We will cut you some slack since it is your first post and all, but it is in the wrong section. A mod can move it though. Besides most of those I would still recommend even with the new releases with the exception of maybe Fruit Ninja added in there? Depends how dextrous your 6 year old is.
Bloomies is a cute game where you grow plants in your garden and harvest their pollen with bees and butterflies. Good fun, even for older people.
My 8 yr old girl likes the following, some of which are free: (1) Touchpet dogs -- its free, and she will definitely play with it some; (2) Bookworm -- she played with Mom when 7, 6 might be too young, and some 7-8 year olds may not like it. Worth a try because its obviously of educational value; (3) Textropolis -- its pretty easy to unlock the next city, so the goals scale to the ability. Plus, they can use the hints when stuck. 6 might be too young, and just like bookworm, some 7-8 year olds may not like it. Worth a try because of educational value; (4) Megajump...kids like unlocking stuff, and megajump is way better than doodlejump in that way. I have found that both my children, including the 5 year old, are as good or better than I am at tilting games; (5) Cut the Rope: Fun puzzle game, has a free version to try. Maybe also Angry Birds, but try the free lite version which has a lot of levels. (6) Plants v Zombies!! How could I forget this game! It will seriously suck in the whole family, no family member over age 4 has a chance of resisting. (7) Robot Unicorn Attack: My girl doesnt actually play this, although she has enjoyed other similar games in the past. Still, I think its pretty clear that this is the running game of choice to get for a young girl. What girl doesnt like unicorns and dolphins, with a catchy song? (8) Fruit Ninja: +1 to prior recommendation. It has several modes which scale to ability, various unlockables (backgrounds, blades) and is just all around fun for the whole family; (9) Mouse About: Super cute puzzle game which starts easy. Actually a personal favorite of mine, and daughter hasnt enjoyed it as much as I would have thought, but its still an easy kid-friendly recommendation. I also let her pick stuff from the top 100 free games, and she has gotten some enjoyment out of various lite versions of pay games. Nothing that compares with the quality or general appeal of the above titles, but stuff that she likes. The above titles are all adult-quality games that the whole family can enjoy. I never pay for kids-only titles, there is no reason too.
Absolutely. My 5 and 8 year old kids had the family high score at Doodle Jump for a long time, (alternating which kid had it) and I had to work embarassingly hard to get it back.

I should have figured since my nephew beats my high score in a ton of games too. But my kids grew up on video games so I should have figured - they just didn't get too interested in them until an older age. Signs of the times I suppose.

How about Rat on a Scooter XL? Simple one finger gameplay and it has a cartoony rat riding a scooter. What kid wouldn't love that?

maybe more for around 5 years but this app is amazing for kids... Everything is spoken so they can do it by themselves too. I found it by random chance but, my son loves it and really learns from it. It lets me check his progress on various subjects and he earns a sticker for each right answer. The cool part is he has to buy the stickers at the store so even that aspect is educational. There is a lot of fake educational garbage that as a parent, I find offensive. This app is a rare find in my opinion App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store. -James
Also Stack the States. My kids really like it. That, plus Cut the Rope, Angry Birds and also Let's Create Pottery are current favorites.
