I developed a remake of an old text adventure game from the AppleII/C64 days called "Masquerade" for the Android platform.

The effort put in to it was in my perspective tremendous but the user response wasn't what I expected.

Since I can reuse the remastered gfx and "only" need to port the engine to IPhone I'd like a honest opinion IF you think the game will be appreciated?

The game is very old school and a short clip can be viewed @ http://www.youtube.com/user/Jompe71

You can play the entire remake on the Android platform but I suppose this is the incorrect forum for such advertisement :p.

Please respond to this thread, only a "Y" or "N" will do.
(Do I need to say that the entire game is fully free, i.e. no LITE version. "Old school for everyone")

i love it, really. but i'm afraid that imo such a project is not to be a very succesfull one. when you look at point&click adventures which have been way more popular than text adventures in the last two decades and where those stand today, i don't think many people would jump to get this.

hell, i would pay but most people wouldn't, i guess.

Yes, I'd download it for sure.

And actually count me among the numbers that certainly would have paid for it.

    Me too would have paid!

God, I love all you guys here for being so nice and polite... :)
Especially the RPG- and Adventure-Gamers... ;)

My lord, how long is the last of these adventures ago?
Personally, I would love to play it.
And forget these Android-guys. Ungrateful bunch with no taste in phones... :D

I, for one would welcome such a game. But sadly it is my belief that if it doesn't involve violence, killing, bombs, explosions, death, blood, mayhem, carnage, murder, shooting people, etc that the youth of today would not be interested.

Todays gamers prefer games which include cutting a swath of unbridled, senseless, sociopathic destruction in a moral vacuum with no rhyme or reason.

  11. eeek!

I would love this game! Those games always seemed better than those 'scripted-stories' because you use your imagination to see what the computer says. :)

I guess I'm not the average gamer of this generation. This looks cool, and you can count this 13 year old in on the fun :). Oh, by the way, all the things you listed (basically you described gears of war) I don't enjoy in my games. I prefer a good thinker, basically anything where I can't just mindlessly go in and win. The closest thing to what you described that I like is Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and MAG which are tactical shooters, and as such, requires you to think about all the factors of the weapons and your, as well as others, loadouts to win.

    Android movie sample...

Sorry to spam you but I'm exited to get this ported to IPhone due to the nice response I got. Since the game is somehow "special" regarding the genre you can say what wysiwyg!
This is what the Android version looks like (forgot I had a small video version of it instead of just screens to show).

Hopefully the IPhone version (fully free and 101% old school) will be better!
Please be patient since I'm doing all of this on my free time.

Next time I post on this thread I'll be fishing for beta testers... :D
