While our game has an octopus/spider/squid-like-thing, similar to Tentacles, our movement control is a bit different. Instead of tapping to control each individual arm where you want it to grab, you are more controlling the direction that our character, Edgar, is going to travel. He still grabs things to move around, but they're more like background objects that he uses to hold on to instead of walls that he has to navigate around. Not sure if I'm giving a great description, as (at least we feel) it's kind of unique. You can check out our trailer and see if that helps explain things though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imz1668GRmw As far as whether you could play it without looking at your iPad, I'm going to say that it would be rather difficult to do. I haven't tried it myself, but some of the levels you will need to be rather exact in your movements, and I feel it would be necessary to know where your finger is on the screen. You could probably play with joystick mode on, especially if you use a fling or something to let you know where joystick center is. As far as the iCade goes we are unfortunately unable to support it. We used the Corona SDK to build the game, and there is no bluetooth or iCade support built in. Even if it were though, from what I understand the iCade joystick maps to the WASD keys like it were a bluetooth keyboard. Cling! really needs analog input for it to play correctly, as Edgar can move 360 degrees in any direction and do so with varying degrees of speed. Since the levels weren't designed for a D-Pad style control, I'd have to imagine that you would find many of them either impossible or at the least frustrating to play with the joystick. Regardless, I'm sure that if you enjoy old school arcade games, you'll get a kick out of Cling!. Let us know what you think when you get a chance to play it! In the old days, early adopters often were rewarded with early adopter sales. But now with so many games freemium converts or constant frees, developers treat early adopters like fools. Much better to wait for the typical 3 day, one week, or one month free. And I cringe at the freemium convert updates when all kind of things happen like losing your coins and consumnable inapps and the developers don't give a rats behind. I like to interact on TA about some new games, so I continue to buy new releases, though usually on the 3rd day cause of sale chances, but I am sure that many consumers don't even buy games anymore waiting for the customary one month free. Can't see why many developers don't realize this, and the negative impact it has on the ios market. It's hard to care about paying full price when developers obviously don't... So much does go free, that by time I get around to purchasing some of my wants, I end up getting them for less than full price. In the end, for many devs we aren't te audience they are after. We are the minority on the AppStore. They often want mass response and for the games with consumable IAP its typically all about addicting the gamer into such a huge (but fun) grindfest that they'll cave in on some IAP. So the games that look freemium with a price tag just aren't on my radar. They typically always go free. Look at Sonic Dash. Freemium was written all over that game. I have a strong stance against IAP. My choice. But part of that is because of the market and just wanting full release games without the money grubbing game designs. That stance and how I view consumable IAP has saved me many times. But I don't hold it against a dev that I like for doing a free promotion to get the bump on the AppStore results. Giving away free copies is about the best way to get bigger sales when the price goes up. For something not so great though, that tends to backfire. I didn't purchase this specific game.
