Hadn't realized this was out. Does look good. Good enough to buy to try although op is looking for an iPad version.
I've noticied that on the videos of Low Grave Racer 2 that the vehicle is very unstable and seems very hard to control?
When I played it on my Touch it did get difficult to control later into the levels for me on certain tracks. Reason why I quit playing it actually.
Sonic & Sega All Stars racing is miles ahead of any other racing sort of game I've played on iOS, if you'll forgive my lame play on words I just did there haha
Yeah, but I think the OP was specifically asking for 'serious' futuristic style racing games, which sonic racing is definitely not.
You're right, I was asking for futuristic racing games, not a mario kart-like (although I like Mario Kart) or a traditional racing game. It would be great if they do WipeOut on iPad.Some years ago they did WipeOut for the Nintendo 64.
WipeOut is the game I chose when PSN were giving out an option of choosing two freebie games because of the hacking earlier. I'd wanted this game for a very long time and so glad to be playing it now. So I can understand your desire to find something relative to it for the iPad. And also F-Zero was a game I played to death on my GBA a few years back. I was totally addicted to that game.
I hope one day we will have a good futurist racing game on iPad.It's a shame, the graphism of Low Grave Racer 2 and Speed Forge Extreme (not on iPad) are good but the game aren't... I too played F-Zero on the GBA.I also had F-Zero on SNES, F-Zero X on Nintendo 64 and F-Zero GX on GameCube.F-Zero GX was awesome.
Check out Synth Racing. There is no iPad version though, so I don't know how the game would look in 2x mode.
Protoxide was mentioned earlier in the thread. It's on sale for 99 cents. Although I tried the lite and liked it I decided to wishlist it instead. Its a bought game.
Just tried the Protoxide Lite. Wow! Very nice game! But I want it for my iPad 2. So not buying yet. P.S. Wish we had a GOOD F-Zero clone. Protoxide is more of a WipeOut clone.
It's a little bare bones, but this game definitely has the F Zero flavor: Orion Racer HD http://appshopper.com/games/orion-racer-hd Review from last year (before there was an HD version): http://toucharcade.com/2010/04/13/orion-racer-one-for-the-f-zero-fans-out-there/
