I have an iPhone. But If I had chosesn an iPod Touch it would have been for the cheaper price and faster speed (2nd gen). Fairly obvious really.
because of the price and because i like to have a phone to make phonecalls, not to run fancy apps. fancy apps only reduce battery runtime of the phone.
I chose an iPod Touch because: 1) I need 2 phones (German and Dutch). They're both the same Nokia phones, and use the same charger, so it's convenient. 2) I have a very reasonable tarif with o2, which cannot be beaten by TMobile who are (were?) the only company in Germany to offer the iPhone. And I do not want to jailbreak. 3) I don't like the idea of having absolutely everything on one device. If I lost it, I would be up sh*t creak without a paddle. 4) I don't want to have to feel like I can't ply games just in case I run out of battery. 5) My freinds who own iPhones look like they are in an unhappy married with the machine from hell. 6) I am scared that I will turn into an iPhone if I use it enough.
I don't like the iPhone as a phone, I'd rather have my phone and media player separate. Plus I always thought the iPod looked nicer anyways. I had no idea it was faster.
I have an original iPhone with no sim card in it and therefore I don't use it as a Phone, I use it as an iPod Touch (crazy I know!). I have an old Samsung D900i which I take to college, work etc and just use it only as a phone (may as well be one of those old 80's 'brick' phones) everything else in on my iPhone. Although, I may replace my iPhone with the next iPod Touch, whenever it comes out.
Yeah, I too just recently learned the ipod touch 2g was actually a faster CPU than the iphone 3g, so that came as a fun bonus. I got the ipod touch because I just wanted a fun portable gaming system without having to pay extra for a phone (and then some scammy service contract from AT&T) and camera. While one could go the jailbroken route to avoid AT&T, too many game have issues on jailbroken iphones, so I still stand by my call.
Because it's more affordable for most people and has a wider market. iPods are used by a lot of younger people because iPhones just aren't a possible option fr some due to financial issues. If I had the option and the money, I'd love to buy an iPhone. However, I already have a cellphone on a 3-year plan so I have to wait until that's gone before I can consider.
i didn't really choose in the first place, but after having it for so long i know i'd choose an ipod touch any day mostly battery issues really, never been bothered by speed (on 1st gen touch) and because i haven't had to pay for any kind of monthly plan i've been able to spend it all on apps instead
Well first, I have owned every iPod since day one. Every Gen. I always supported it. I absolutely HATE my cell phone. I hate that people can bother me at anytime, no matter where I am. I never played any games on my cell phones either. They only served ONE purpose (two if you count text). BUT, I am a longtime user of portable gaming devices, from the PSP, DS, to the Game Gear, Lynx, to the Tapwave Zodiac, etc, etc. I have always favored playing games on a smaller device, just not a cell phone. When I saw that Apple put more into the iphone than the ipod touch at first, for the first time in 10 years I was dissapointed with them (until the touch came along). The iPod was their baby, and they were neglecting it for cell phone use? (through one carrier, and you couldn't buy it and use it ONLY as an ipod) I am glued to my ipod touch. I had an 8gb first gen, now I have a 32gb 2nd gen. I have purchased over 550 games and use it for movies and music as well as photos. I am a photographer (for a living) and I can show people my work anytime, anywhere. I play and buy games almost everyday. I watch films on this thing all the time. Now why would I want to integrate something I hate into something I love, and then have people bothering me through my favorite device? Maybe a good way to break the addiction. On another note, I have always treated my ipods like gold, and my phones like dirt. I can't imagine the fuse.
