this is a question for any developers or programmers... is persistant blood a major drain on memory or what? why do only about .001% of games permanently display the blood that enemies shed? this question stretches beyond iphones to powerful consoles as well. if games like oblivion and red faction: guerrilla can remember exactly where each and every piece of armor or steel girder you dropped was, why can't there be a blood stain to remind you of a past epic battle? i noticed boxhead keeps blood and it got me thinking. not even nazi zombies on COD: WaW can keep bloodstains displayed for more than about 30 seconds. why the fade??
I can think of one iDevice game that uses persistent blood - Samurai: Way of the Warrior. Otherwise, I think you've answered your own question. It is obviously a drain of resources, and the payoff for most players is minimal.
