I bought Minecraft PE and Plague Inc recently and was pleasantly surprised by how much time I could kill playing these games; this particularly comes in handy for long commutes. Are there any other good games of this ilk that are deep or strategy-driven enough to help time move a little more swiftly?

I don't know how to play poker. :(

But Dungeon Village by Kairosoft looks promising. A bit bright and colorful for my taste, but with a 5-star rating it might be worth trying.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Study?? No way. :p

When ever I do research into strategy games for iOS, Dungeon Raid always pops up. I should probably just buy this game already.

    Thanks again for the suggestions.

I did some searching and found these as well:
    • Ascendancy
    • Ravenmark
    • Land Air Sea Warfare (own it already, love it)

Ravenmark is an excellent turn-based strategy title. Highly recommended if you are looking for something deep. Other than strengths and weakness of various units vs units, the game emphasizes attention on things like formation, direction, and turn action limits.

    Thanks for the reply.

Ravenmark looks like it could be the perfect time killer. It currently tops my list, with Junk Jack now at second. I should have my mind made up after I finish compulsively researching these titles. :)

    Some other games I'm considering:
    • Amoebattle
    • Hunters 2
    • Great Little War Game

Great 4x title that will suck your life away.

If you're considering it, you should also consider Starbase Orion, which is an even more fleshed out 4x game and/or Distant Star / Vincere Totus Astrum which are simpler ones. Honorable mentions go to 9 Colonies and Civilization Revolution.

Thanks again, drelbs. You've been a great help.

Starbase Orion looks like the kind of game I'd really enjoy. Super deep and set in space. Buying now.

    Great Games

Well some of my personal favorite time wasters include Eden World Builder which allows to download and explore worlds built by others which some are AMAZING, then there is Virtual Families 2, and Civilization Revolution.
