So... since the iPad supports a keyboard dock and Bluetooth keyboards, will we be able to utilize the physical buttons? I know there still isn't a mouse but a lot of games, like the C64 emulator, could benefit. The Bluetooth keyboard would work better IMO because you could use it any orientation. So?
I could see this working, however you have to buy the keyboard to be able to play the game, meaning that devs will be limiting their audience. This will detract a lot of developers.
Yes, but I don't think developers will be bothered to create a whole new control scheme for only a minority of people who will actually own this keyboard.
but if it catches on they will. question is, are there any devs willing to try this out. i could see it being useful for games like IMO(upcoming mmo for iphone) if it has an HD version.
It's a shame that Apple isn't making a mouse for the iPad. If you had a mouse and a keyboard then you could play FPS games with PC controls. But then again, I guess that defeats the whole object of it being a portable device.
Yes, the Bluetooth apple keyboard is compatible, I don't know about other Bluetooth keyboards though.
one of the features of the 3.0 software update was that people could make third party accesories to play the games with. This keyboard dock would probably help me/you play fps on the ipad... you use the W A S D keys to move and the space bar to shoot, to aim you swipe your finger on the screen! The only problem is that you would have to play it in portrait...
I know, seriously. The fact that it is kind of awkward to carry this big device around makes me not want to buy it. And adding a keyboard to it makes it even more worthless, it's supposed to be special because of the touch screen, and now, they're adding a keyboard? I'll stick with my iphone, it's actually portable.
I like options. You can attach it if you want....or not. It's up to you. Giving the IPad options doesn't detract from it's lure one bit. At least not for me.
Exactly. An iPad is no where as good as a laptop. So what's the point of buying something that is worse than something you already have? A laptop has better graphics, and the point of getting an iPad was because it is more portable than a laptop. Now if you want to have a keyboard attached to it, then it would be harder to carry an iPad around compared to a laptop.
Honestly, the only reasonable explanation I hear is that it's an entertainment device for web surfing, movie watching, reading email, gaming and so on. Of course all of these tasks can be achieved with a laptop.
