ANIMALCHOPPINGS Well-Known Member Feb 25, 2011 300 0 0 Canada #4 ANIMALCHOPPINGS, Mar 18, 2012 Why ?! Its such a good game Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #5 Royce, Mar 18, 2012 Seems like they're playing with the pricing to optimize sales and chart position. Good game or not, if it doesn't sell as well as anticipated, sales happen. Here's what the developer said in the game thread. Anyway, it's a very cool game, definitely a deal at a buck Card Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 818 6 18 Toronto Canada #6 Card, Mar 18, 2012 Last edited: Mar 18, 2012 Awesome... but worried about how short the game is by reading the reviews, is it just a little over an hour? awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #7 awp69, Mar 18, 2012 Great game. Picked it up at launch and, yeah, sad there's already a sale. But, it happens to pretty much every game. Hope this gets it some more attention so maybe some more levels will be made (15 is kinda short). But it's fantastic fun anyway. Shame the devs stuck it to us first day buyers so soon though... won't be buying any of their subsequent apps right away in the future! Jamie C.Hannum Well-Known Member Feb 13, 2011 2,512 0 36 New York State #10 C.Hannum, Mar 18, 2012 Just enable Game Center at the main menu and it works fine (and it's already fixed in an in-review patch). No, what's a shame is that devs felt they had to halve their revenue during launch week just to gain some awareness of a decent little title that was worth the $2 I spent on it. Stop punishing devs for the fact that most buyers are even cheaper than you are. Pay what you think a game is worth and don't second guess your choice unless the game turns out to suck. Instead of thinking the devs did something to you by a later sale, realize, nope, the cheap dumbasses out there are screwing themselves out of quality indie devs by complaining over a $1 for entertainment. In the not so long run, this environment is either going to weed out the cheap asses, or it's going to weed out the devs who take risks and produce novel, interesting games. I'd rather try and make the former instead of the latter happen. deckard Well-Known Member Mar 25, 2009 528 0 0 Tampa, FL #11 deckard, Mar 18, 2012 p0wnd. badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,884 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #12 badmanj, Mar 18, 2012 Last edited: Mar 18, 2012 I have every right to be annoyed when I buy a launch product at a given price only to have that price halved only three or four days later. However, I will never buy a day one release from these guys again because I'll know I'll probably be able to buy the same product four days later at half the cost. As for me being 'cheap', I almost certainly spend more on apps than you do. This week alone I've spent in excess of $60. I'm hardly cheap - but I simply feel wronged in these situations. There's a difference between being 'cheap' and making intelligent purchasing decisions - knowing a dev has a tendency to play around with price point so soon after release falls into the realms of the latter. How do you think you'd react if you bought a new iPad on the 16th only to have Apple slash the price in half by the 20th? Same concept, different scale. Jamie. Rafnel Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 92 0 0 #14 Rafnel, Mar 18, 2012 yeah this game is ultra short. 15 levels and a survival mode, it's an awesome game and I hope they update it with more levels or at least more in an IAP. Khamous Well-Known Member Aug 15, 2009 2,301 0 0 #15 Khamous, Mar 18, 2012 I find it nice that you're an optimist. It is also not true. There are 2 main pricing strategies in merchandising. One is to put the price high and lower it with time, so you get everyone's max valuation of a product, this one being more effecting in higher quality titles. And the 2nd one being lowering the price at the beginning and then making it go up. It makes people go crazy at the beginning and the world takes notice of the product. That is true for all kinds of businesses and pricing. But decreasing the price 2 days after introduction is just a kick in the nuts for every early adopter (whether you want to rationalize it differently is your own thing) and the early adopters are the ones that make products rise and fall. Also you talk about the not so long run, which is also nice and silly, as the store has already found an equilibrium. It is a place where CR II sells at 18 bucks. And at the same time Angry Birds sells at 99 cents. If one or the other didnt exist, such equilibria that you mention might be a possibility, but since they do (i.e. high levels of user perceived quality at different pricing, that also pays off, because think how much money AB, Fruit Ninja, et al have made in the store) that won't happen. Gunlock Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2010 472 0 16 #16 Gunlock, May 26, 2012 On sale for $0.99. I just bought the game like two days ago and I'm glad I did. Really fantastic game, but it also has a lot of potential and could use some content updates (missions, backgrounds, new units, game modes etc.). For a buck you really can't go wrong with this one.
