    Greetings,

I have been playing a LOT of turn based games (mostly from Zyenga) lately - Draw Something, Words With Friends, Hanging With Friends, Scramble with Friends and Prose With Bros. I am really enjoying these types of games and I am looking for other recommendations. If anyone has any recommendations of similar type apps, please post.

    Thanks,

The style of turn-based multiplayer you are referring to where players take turns at different times is technically referred to as asynchronous (in case you didn't know).

Most of these are a little more "involved", I guess you would say, than the games you mentioned ... but are each very good and very different styles of games.

Ticket to Ride Pocket, which is on sale for free, at the moment.

If you like trading card style games, Ascension : Chronicle off the Godslayer is currently on sale, and is an outstanding buy for $0.99, down from $5.

Disc Drivin is a turn based arcade racing game ... there is a free version w/ ads you can try.

Hero Academy, if you like turn based strategy type games ... and it is free.

Carcassonne is pretty much universally accepted as the best implementation of asynchronous gameplay and offers a lot of content with play against the AI, online, and solitaire. It is $10 and never goes on sale.

Just jumping the gun here, but Great Big War Game is coming out in a month or so. It's a sequel to the game in my sig and we've spent several months specialising on the multiplayer aspect to make it the most fun ever(tm). You can even take on those nasty android dudes.

Just a comment on Words with Friends...great game if it wasn't for the very obvious cheating of a lot of the random players I've played. I'll never understand the reason or cheat apps for this type of game..what's the point of playing if you cheat ?... Okay rant over.

Sale or not, turn based gems that you can't go wrong with IMO are:

    - Ascension (with all IAP).
    - Carcassonne (with all IAP).
    - Neuroshima Hex (with all IAP).
    - Battle for Wesnoth.
    - Scrabble.

If your a fan of tbs, these games IMO are solid choices to have period, and no doubt you will be completely satisfied once you get familiar with the mechanics of each game. ;)

Thanks all. I appreciate the recommendations. Plus, I had no idea they were called asynchronous games. And I certainly don't mind paying for apps, so I am not looking only for free app recommendations. Thanks again,

Hero Academy is currently the best for casual pick up and play strategy imho. Carcasonne is much more complicated.

Outwitters, which is in late stage beta, is similar to Hero Academy in feel, but has less of a learning curve.

I *think* Hero Mages may be similar, but I havent spent the time with that one yet.
