COOL ---one of the pictures on iTunes looks like the Koi shoots out spikes...or mabey you can shoot spikes at it.
"Stunningly realistic and beautifully animated Koi Fish" "Grab the Shock Stick to zap the koi fish with electricity then watch as they reel in agony." "It's exhilarating and downright addictive, once you start playing you simply can't stop." WTF, sounds like a virtual psychopath training kit for the serial killers of tomorrow.
The first game was based on sharks.. looks like they did not change it much http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=309550069&mt=8
Not the same developer that made that charming original top selling app.. Looks like they are just using ambiguous name to confuse people
There was some discussion about it here. It's basically Great White using Koi models and a confusingly similar name to The Blimp Pilots' excellent zen-like toy. Seems like a lame attempt to horn in on some of TBP's action.
Koi Pond 3D automatically makes people think of the original Koi Pond, so its understandable if there's confusion. Cheap, yet smart marketing move. I can see some customers going, "I don't remember being able to taser fish in the last game."
Okay here's my review At first sight, Koi Pond seem's very much similar to Great White-the interface and game engine are presumably identical. However, that does not mean it's a bad entertainment app by itself. Sure, the textures and eyeballs of the fish are a little cheesy, but it's animated well and fun to watch. If you liked koi pond by Blimp Pilots, there should be no reason you wouldn't enjoy this app as well. Again, the best apps are all about interactivity, and I think users would love if they could actually physically feed the fish, rather than make a trail of flakes and watch the fish be attracted to it. Yet, this will all be improved in the next update, so I'm told. Bottom line: Is it Good? Yes Is it a Game? No If you like entertainment apps, you'll like this. That said, if you don't, you won't.
I'm sure some people might be confused, but it's not like 'koi pond' is a trademark. I don't think there's anything wrong with the name. It would be worse if they completely copied the original Koi Pond concept as well, this is more like a fun spin-off
