Hallmates want to go see THG tonight. Ecstatic. Looks like I won't have to wait until I'm back in Houston after all. HYFR.
Just got back from seeing THG. Having never even heard of the series before seeing the first trailer, it's definitely lived up to the hype for me as a standalone film. I'd go as far as saying it's the most memorable film I've seen since The Dark Knight. The depravity and the dystopian premise really hit home. A few of the friends I went with have actually read all of the novels. They said it followed the first book quite closely, which is awesome considering how loosely most films follow their source material. My one complaint is the romance present in the movie. It's probably due to the mediocre acting for these particular scenes, but it just felt so incredibly tacked-on. I understand it's part of the novel, but according to Wikipedia and my friends, the movie get quite a few details wrong concerning the central romance of the story. Really distracts from the rest of the movie. I'm definitely planning on reading the novels when I find the time this upcoming summer in any case. I'll be surprised if the movie doesn't break $100m this opening weekend and come extremely close to $150m. Go see it.
It broke $19 million on midnight release so it would be crazy if it didn't break $100 million. It looks good but I prefer reading the source material before watching movies based on another medium so I'll pass on this now until I read the books.
$155m opening weekend for THG. Third best in history, trailing HP7P2 and The Dark Knight. Called that shit. Go see the movie, seriously.
Seeing Mirror Mirror or The Lorax and then 21 Jump Street on Saturday. Been a while since I've gone to the theaters with the gf.
If you like mirror mirror Id suggest you watch Once upon a Time (tv show). Its very good and does fairytales very well.
The following are the five movies I watched in 2011. Highly recommended! "The Descendants" "50/50" "X-Men: First Class" "Attack the Block" "The Muppets"
Mirror Mirror was terrible. Nice effects and acting, but the story is just too weak even when compared to its source material. So glad we saw 21 Jump Street though. Best comedy in the past year, hands down. Was literally crying during some scenes because it was so damn funny. Haven't laughed that hard in..a long time, heh.
Yeah, I kinda expected that from Mirror Mirror... guess I'll be skipping that one. Been wanting to see 21 Jump Street!
We watched Dogtooth this past weekend. It has to be the mostly insanely darkly comic movie I've ever seen. It won't be for everyone, but we liked it a lot. It's available on Netflix Instant Streaming.
Holy shit, Battle Royale is a merciless bloodbath. And I though The Hunger Games was extreme..half-way through BR now. What kind of ending was that?..I have no idea what just happened, lmao. 10x more intense than THG, but not a better film overall. The one part I didn't get was how that one guy's uzi never ran out of ammo -_-. Anyways, I read the film site. Makes a lot more sense now.
Just saw the trailer of secret world of Arietty and its good and want to watch the full movie. ________________________ best way to learn spanish
I saw 21 Jump Street last weekend and thought it was good. I was surprised at how funny Channing Tatum was. Recommend.
