Promissing game. thumbwiz Well-Known Member Jan 9, 2012 66 0 0 IT Consultant Canada http://www.arutilities.com/slopes/slipperyslopes.html #3 thumbwiz, Apr 7, 2013 Hi, yes, I'm the developer, thanks for the interest! There are improvements always in the works too. For example, the next release will include a Personal Shield your bird can use to prevent being eaten In the near future there will be optimized support for IPad. amdreh Well-Known Member Mar 26, 2013 227 0 0 Brazil #4 amdreh, Apr 7, 2013 I was going to ask about iPad. You could work on the sound, it's only one loop repeating the whole game. The zombie part could have a different song to build a rush and fear atmosfere, for instance. Maybe some objectives, maybe some different weapons to attack or slow down the zombie besides the egg... Anyway it's a promissing game! thumbwiz Well-Known Member Jan 9, 2012 66 0 0 IT Consultant Canada http://www.arutilities.com/slopes/slipperyslopes.html #5 thumbwiz, Apr 7, 2013 Thank you for the suggestions, they're always welcome. New ways of dealing with the zombie are in the works. And I will change up the music a bit as well. gquiller Well-Known Member Nov 15, 2011 330 3 18 #6 gquiller, Apr 8, 2013 I haven't tried it yet, but will & thanks for the hard work! I would say welcome to the forums, but I'm a newbie. Much success to you & Bird Quest thumbwiz Well-Known Member Jan 9, 2012 66 0 0 IT Consultant Canada http://www.arutilities.com/slopes/slipperyslopes.html #7 thumbwiz, Apr 8, 2013 Hey gquiller, let me know if you do get a chance to try it out. And please, all suggestions are welcome. I can take criticism too, so pile it on if you feel the need. I am already working on a list based on feedback from amdreh iamseamonster Well-Known Member Mar 8, 2010 214 0 0 #8 iamseamonster, Apr 8, 2013 Last edited: Apr 8, 2013 Gave it a try. Upfront gotta say the art is off putting. Not that it's bad, it's just kind of amateur and plain, and would probably keep a lot of people from giving this a chance, even at free. The game looks tons better in action than in screen shots though. The gameplay is, however, quite a nice surprise. Controls are fluid and work well, and mechanics are pretty unique, although they dont make a whole lotta sense . There is a timer bar at the bottom constantly depleting - Collect specified objects as quickly as you can, and eventually you are going to be chased by a zombie (zombird?). Fly into eggs to throw them at the zombie, 6 eggs kill a zombie I think but you can upgrade the egg power.. Collecting birds increases score, and tutorials say save the birds while the zombie is chasing but I didn't notice any penalty for missing birds... It seems you can get caught by a zombie but I'm naturally awesome at games () so that hasn't happened yet, I'm guessing it would end the run early. Avoid hitting bird houses or you will be fined (I guess coins), but there is a neat little insurance system where you buy protection for houses and you can destroy x amount before it starts penalizing you it seems. The overall goal seems to be to attract and dispatch as many zombirds as possible in the time limit while saving other birds for score. At the end you get awarded coins based on performance. The only thing I'm not getting is the point of fame.. It seems to be the meta-goal of the game. Good runs get you fame and you can also spend coins on a party to bump your fame a bit too. But all it is is a number on the home screen.. dev, can you explain what the purpose of fame is? Maybe I am not far enough or I just missed it. Edit- another question.. Is there a difference between blue and red (and neutral?) versions of objects? Do they affect score differently in any way or is their difference only visual? Overall I agree with Amdreh.. Promising game, fairly unique concept and gameplay. Thanks for the freebie and good luck with this, I'll keep it on my iPad and watch for the update to optimize it.. Doesn't look too bad currently at 2x but always nice to get a universal update! Hope to see some more upgrades and level goals, too! Any specific areas or questions you'd like feedback on that I didn't cover, thumbwiz? thumbwiz Well-Known Member Jan 9, 2012 66 0 0 IT Consultant Canada http://www.arutilities.com/slopes/slipperyslopes.html #9 thumbwiz, Apr 8, 2013 iamseamonster, Great feedback, thank you so much. I agree the artwork is kind of amateur because it was done by me and i am an amateur I am a one person show, so I need as much feedback as possible. I guess I overlook explaining gameplay that I designed because I just know how it works. I need to take into account that new players don't know what I do. Just to quickly explain a few things: Fame is basically another Score that you can use to compete on Game Center or brag to your friends about, just like your high score. Fame is increased each time you destroy a Zombird (as you named it). Fame is also increased for completing a round (don't get eaten) and is based on your energy upgrade The Timer Bar at the bottom represents your Energy, it starts full, and when it's empty the round ends. Upgrading Energy will increase the length of the round and increase the amount of Fame and Coins you get for a complete round. Scoring: Quest Items the game wants you to fly over (top right) give a higher score and will attract a Zombird. Upgrading Noise attribute will reduce the number of Quest items you need to fly over in order to attract a Zombird. Other items (except houses) give a minimal score. Items that you fly over while being chased by a Zombird give an even higher score. Houses give no score, and cost 2 coins each to repair. If you buy insurance you only pay half, but you need to insure in increments of 5. Item colors: At this point the different colors don't mean anything. In a future release there will be new objectives where color will be important. iamseamonster Well-Known Member Mar 8, 2010 214 0 0 #10 iamseamonster, Apr 8, 2013 Thanks for the clarification on things, now I can try playing better to improve my score I'm buying 'birdiness' as a thanks for the freebie..
