Tempted to redownload it for the new content recently added if it wasn't for space considerations (don't misread this as this is NOT a game I question as far as space is concerned -- at least I don't remember this one blowing up to 3-4x the compressed size). The effort that obviously went into this game deserves repayment. I just hope they didn't change anything, you know, in an IAP sense. Otherwise, anyone who doesn't have this needs to jump on it. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #4 undeadcow, Mar 21, 2012 There's a sequel coming out soon so The Game Baker's made their profit and are using this as a promotion for advancement of the line. Squids 1 is a quality game that has not received any negative gamebreaking updates IAP or otherwise; still worth it. I bought this a while back and i had some good times with it. It's got some unique mechanics for a TBS and it has a charm even casual gamers would appreciate. Im actually surprised that this is free now. For those who didnt yet, GET IT. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #6 awp69, Mar 21, 2012 Last edited: Mar 21, 2012 Not to harp on this, but I've seen this sentiment a lot more often in these price drop threads. Yes, I agree, this and many other games are well worth the money they ask for them. But when there's a price drop or a freebie, there's usually a good reason. The dev WANTS to get more notice for his app and going free or having a sale is a way to get bumped up in the AppStore rankings and get more notice. More often than not, I suspect that the vast majority of the freebies we see here, the devs are happy to get the downloads, word-of-mouth and reviews on the AppStore. Just like the Mystery of the Japanese Werewolf that a lot of people got upset to see go free. That dev was really happy to see how many downloads he got and, hopefully, will get future sales because of it. Anyway, don't necessarily feel "bad" for taking advantage of sales and freebies. If you leave a review or support the dev in the future, it all helps (or at least I like to think so). drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #7 drelbs, Mar 21, 2012 ...and if you like the game, spend a buck or two on the IAP! It's a ton of fun if you dig the mechanics (there were a few that didn't, but I wasn't one of them). Looking forward to Squids 2!! Card Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 818 6 18 Toronto Canada #15 Card, Mar 22, 2012 Awesome... damn I have way to many games to play now. the9quad Well-Known Member Apr 27, 2011 968 0 0 #16 the9quad, Mar 22, 2012 All I can say is read that review then read the review for infinity blade2. Apparently if you have enough marketing muscle then TA staff doesn't mind an endless repetitive grind that can only be eased with copious amounts of IAP. However, if you are a small dev then you better not require even having to replay a scenario once because the reviewer will hit you for it. Squids hit the sweet spot on the head, it has IAP pearls that can let you advance without replaying a level, but it has gameplay that is engaging enough that any real gamer doesn't mind replaying a level once or twice to move on. The whole reviewers angle on IAP for this game just stinks, go play the game , then play jetpack joyride, and ib2. Then ask yourself which one of these games is unique, constantly refreshing and requires little grinding. I'll give you a hint it rhymes with schmuids. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #17 syntheticvoid, Mar 22, 2012 very nicely said.
