http://toucharcade.com/2010/02/22/ngmoco-raises-another-25-million-and-buys-freeverse/ We've got an interview tomorrow morning that will clear things up, but for the time being-
...Or just wait 4 hours for them to respawn? Oh hell's yeah. Next up: all my Freeverse games go free with adds, new Plus enabled versions will appear that will be free with stuff to buy...
I just honestly hope that all future games from ngmoco won't use the 'freemium' model, because for me, I've tried a few of ngmocos freemium games and ultimately deleted them soon after the first or second go-round(Eliminate included). I'd MUCH rather just pay a flat fee, up-front for any game. It really seems like all of the digital society is going to the recurring-revenue model which brings in more money, ultimately, but turns off a lot of loyal customers, as has been my experience. Sure, they've created a great business model to nickel and dime their gaming demographic, which I'm sure brings them a premium. But in all honesty, didn't the originators of ngmoco start said company because they(who used to be employed by BIG names in the gaming industry) wanted to get away from their(big-game-brother) crazy nothing-but-money-diven tactics? Please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm two-sheets-to-the-wind as it is right now and I've had a terrible day. I may not be the most logical thinker at the moment.
Let's just all be thankful that 'Plants Vs. Zombies' came out before this acquisition. Here's to hoping any future updates for said game are not DLC for small tings such as weapons upgrades...ughhh...
This is the second bit of bad news I have had today. The first being that some idiots in Hollywood are remaking Escape From New York with Gerard Butler as Snake Plissken. Today sucks.
