    DS who? PSP huh? o_O

All around I feel it makes DS/PSP obsolete, and other portable devices for the record. Yeah I said it!

(Minus Monster Hunter Freedom Series for it's pure epicness.)

I just picked up and ipod touch a couple of months ago. About a week after owning it, I sold off my PSP and DSi.

ZOMG! The DS and PSP can play MP3's too!!!! That doesn't mean they don't do other things as well. Jeez.

Compared to DS/PSP, battery life of ipod touch for gaming is really bad though.

Yep, that is the big weakness of the platform. My wife is a bejeweled addict, and that DS battery will last for what seems like weeks. Have not used my PSP in some years, its battery life was nothing special, but it still lasted considerably longer than either my Iphone or touch does.

If I want to buy a handheld for gaming, I will buy a DS. I just think it kicks ass in gaming. The iPod Touch is very cool, but for gaming it's just ok.

    I agree.
    I bought/purchased a battery-support gadget which uses 2 AA-batteries.

Yes - for me it is.

I don't like the games on PSP and I think the games on DS is far to pricy.

There are tons of "lite" and "free" games for the iPod Touch.
And if I buy a game for 99c and don't like it, I can live with that.

I only bougth my iPod Touch for gaming.
I prefer the sound in my Sony and iRiver mp3-players for mp3-music.

@jyhjyh, could you share what lite/free/99cts you have bought that you think makes the ipod touch worthwhile?

honestly, none of the free/99cts games i have bought grab my attention for more than a day, well perhaps because there are always some other game out there... but my point is you can't really compare the 99cts games with the DS "pricey" games you mentioned.

Instead of getting DS's for the kids last holiday we spent a little more and got them Touches. Best... decision... ever.

Set aside the music and video - I'm willing to bet you can pick any of your favorite DS games and find an equivalent on the Touch for a fraction of the cost. Civ Revolution, Racing and Off Road Moto games, nearly 2 billion tower defense games... tons of variety. *thumbsup*

And if you become a regular on Touch Arcade, just checking every day or so in the main forum, you will collect dozens of good games for free as devs will occasionally drop the price for a day to generate traffic.

yeah i use my itouch for gaming, mostly but i also use it for podcasts too as i have a archos and even though the sound quality beats the touch hands down you need to buy a plug in fro it to play podcasts, lousy frenchy fleecing b******s.

I agree that the battery life cycle is crap especially on 1st gen but buy a mobile battery charger and your good to go.

Actually for any touch that is a must as the more developers get to grips with this little beast the more they are coaxing ever more out of it and in return this is coaxing even more out of the battery.

LOL thats a lot of coaxing LOL

I've owned one since August, and a few weeks after getting it I sold my DS Lite. I think it's amazing in gaming. There are all types of games (FPS, tower defense, puzzle, etc) for it and overall I use it mostly for gaming. It is definitely worth it.
