Very nice; sometimes wishes come true. I started to play this one twenty years ago on my Amiga, and, with all these retro games resurrecting on the iPad, I always thought, that Pirates would translate well to our favorite tablet. And, BTW, put Sid's Alpha Centauri on my wishlist
Yes! I loved this game. Used to play it on my original xbox before school and got extremely hooked. Day 1 purchase for me.
Words cannot express my joy at this news. My favorite game ever and one I've been hoping for an iPad port for.
I read IGN's preview, but is the game in all 3d like a Gameloft game, or only during sequences? Is it fun, open ended and expansive? Or Is it repetitive, redundant, same tasks over and over? I'd like to know what the play style and such amounts to...
This made my week, easily one of my favorite Sid Meier games. I use to play the original with my dad on his Amiga back in the day and the previous remakes on xbox and psp. It looks like this remake has received some additions that weren't in the xbox/psp remakes. I can't wait for tomorrow night and at $3.99(intro sale price) this is a steal.
Here's a good, exhaustive video review of the PC version -- should give you a good idea of the gameplay. I've been meaning to pick this up in the Mac App Store (at $29.99, natch), but I'd much rather get the iPad version. This is great news.
Thanks for the video. From what I've gathered It's like: The Sims (sim), Highborne (RTS), Monkey Island (Story/puzzle), and Fable III (Alliance shaping/Rpg) rolled into one? Looks great! I wonder if the iPad version will look half as good though, or as full featured?
ARRRG! I've wanted to play this game for a loooong time but I've never gotten around to it. At $4 it looks like a steal, I just hope I have enough space free on my iPad to install it.
Apparently the content is the same (seriously!). Visually, the screenshots in the IGN article look comparable to what I've seen of the PC version.
Finally! A descent sail combat game on iOS and it is the Pirates! Excellent, now I can drop one from my thought projects...
Didn't see this coming! Played this many times. Very open ended. Go where you like. It's 2d most of the time (isometric) ship view with 3d side on view for fight scenes. After several hours, the action is a bit samey with the fights but there is a lot to do. Dance and you can woo women. Ship fights. Sword fights. Get married. Promotion. Dig treasure. Think of it like a new career where you earn as much money as pos. More of a sim hence lots of "repeated" action. I will get ASAP.
This was my favourite PSP game and one of my favourite games of all time. I've been waiting 3 years for this to come to the App Store. Now it's finally here, but it's only for iPad. FML. There had better be an iPhone version in the works or I might have to buy myself an iPad.
The iPad 2 is quite amazing ... (come to the 9.7 in. Apple tablet dark side...) Side note: iPad 3 has a chance to be quad core using the same chip as Vita - iPhone 6 probably won't be quad core though, heat issues. These are the strong rumors lately.
Kind of surprised that this isn't available in NZ yet but after doing a little investigating I found that Sid Meiers Civilization is only available in Chinese in NZ. So I'm guessing the UK and other parts of Europe will be the first to get this game. EDIT: Well sorry Australia I forgot about you. Australia does have Civilization but NO Pirates yet. This has me a little worried.
