"you're just hangin' out, chillin', relaxin' ... the solar system is yours in this video game" - Touch Arcade "There is a certain exhilaration in swooping down from orbit, rebounding off a planet, and flying upward again, travelling off to the distant stars." - 148Apps "All in all, if you enjoy motion based flying games, you won’t want to miss Unknown Orbit, which has a gorgeous space theme, an entrancing soundtrack, and challenging but rewarding gameplay." - AppAdvice Use the planet’s hills and valleys to launch yourself into deep space and hurtle through sparkling firefly clouds to reach the orbiting moons and beyond. Space out and enter a state of flow with an entrancing vibe and soundtrack by Rhys Lindsay. Perfect the smoothest landings and highest jumps, and glide across a strange orbital landscape. Seems like I watched a TA Plays on this not that long ago. Downloading now. Thanks. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #4 MidianGTX, Jan 30, 2013 This looks brilliant, thanks. Nice grahics, seems like play like a 3d tiny wings or something, best that I can describe it. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #6 MidianGTX, Jan 30, 2013 It's got some bad reviews on the UK store, but I think it's pretty neat. I suspect the controls were an obstacle for some people as I spent a few minutes just rolling around in canyons before I got the hang of it and launched into orbit. Once you're there though, it's quite exhilarating. Better sense of speed and motion than Tiny Wings, that's for sure. ninjackid Well-Known Member May 27, 2010 9,380 2 38 #7 ninjackid, Jan 30, 2013 Whoa, this looks sweet! Thanks for the heads up! nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #8 nightc1, Jan 30, 2013 It's pretty awesome to leave orbit and visit other rocks. I skipped easy mode and played hard first than normal. 3 games in and I'm 121st on the leaderboard. Not too bad. So far I'd give it 4 or possibly 5 stars. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #9 nightc1, Jan 31, 2013 Played a few more games of this last night and broke the top 100 at something like 93... but then this morning I'm knocked back down to 117 on the leaderboards. I made a mistake about the names of the difficulties. I started with Very Hard then moved to Hard... and mostly have played on Hard mode. I've tried Normal, which is a lot easier since you start out with a lot of snow on the ball... but my scores haven't been 1/2 of my top score (just under 1 million). Overall I think the game is a lot of fun and well worth checking out. It's relaxing despite trying to go for a high score. Installed it's 39.1 MB which is pretty awesome as it's 3d and all. I thought it was boring. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #12 syntheticvoid, Jan 31, 2013 Yeah... I'm pretty surprised I wound up in the top 50 after just a couple games. With 2,700+ people on the leaderboard... I'm definitely surprised. At first, I didn't really like it because of the tilt controls and the crazy sensitivity, with lack of a sensitivity slider... but it's growing on me. I kind of which this one had achievements. I know there's objectives, but if they could make them GC achievements as well, it woulda been great. I can't even really remember what the objectives were, which sucks, because I have 12 out of 13 of them. But as much as I am liking it - it does feel like even just some little tweaks here and there, and a little more time put into it could have been done to polish it all off and make it feel like a real "professional" game. Oh well... for free... I'm definitely not going to complain (too much... hehe). Time to move on up to the Hard and Very Hard modes. =oD nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #13 nightc1, Jan 31, 2013 I wish it had GC as well for the achievements. The one you are missing is probably to fly into the blackhole. Seems like if you touch the missions thing in the lower left it will show up to 3 currently needed missions. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #14 syntheticvoid, Jan 31, 2013 Nah, right now, I need to collect all of the snowballs... I've flown into the black hole numerous times. =oP Filing Cabinet Well-Known Member Aug 20, 2011 997 0 16 #15 Filing Cabinet, Jan 31, 2013 Nice little game. It's fun once you manage to launch yourself into space. Controls are awful. The tilt controls seem to be oversensitive and I can't seem to find any calibration options. I'm going to spend more time with this one to try and get a better feel but I'm sure there are many other players who won't bother. Loved going into orbit and crashing into one of the rings. But the controls seem a little finicky and sensitive. It was hard to land and take off smoothly for me.
