    As the title says:

I want to know if it is something good or rather worthless if my app shows up in the search at #1 position for a single word.

For Example you search for the word "Tennis". No full app names, no extensions like "Tennis Game" or "Tennis Wimbledon Multiplayer" or such... just "Tennis"

Can somebody tell me if it is good for my app or is it worthless?
    Does anybody have an experience?

    That would obviously be good.

Coming first on key single word terms is certainly a big plus, especially generic words like tennis!

    Thank you for your reply!
I hope you are right and it will generate a bit more downloads, than nothing :)

For organic downloads it will, so long as the icon and app are good.

Yes being at the top for Tennis is good. I'm the 50% partner at Focused Apps who make Hit Tennis :) That game keeps us afloat in CA. Whats your tennis game??? See you at #2? You will never take #1! I also agree that icon is very very important.

It is not a tennis game.
I just used a random word for better understanding.
The search ranking of course dropped rapidly, after the download numbers of the initial release were dropping.

Now the game appears about rank 20-30 or even worse. I didn't check anymore.

So the search ranking is also tied to download numbers.
Initial release gets a little bit of boost it seems, and then you are left screwed again.
It has nothing to do with anything else, then download numbers.

which would make sense since apple is trying to get the most popular apps to the consumers that downloads would be a significant part of the formula. Sounds like you were in a great spot to get downloads, if you in fact didn't you need to figure why.
