That video and the game in general reminds me of the Blair Witch Project. I can only hope you do more than just run around, having a camera recording you, and then die.
Hi all, Updated the start of this thread with the game-play trailer. Hopefully that will fill you in on what you do in the game. Nigel @ distinctive
We've tried to make it so that OF is not in your face and you can ignore it if you don't want to use it Nigel
Obviously inspired by Raimi's makeshift scenes in which a camera mounted atop an invisible car would chase unwary hicks all over the place.
I love the look of this game, but it really does seem like it might too simple. If you add some other obstacles that have different effects, or even power-ups, it would add a lot to the gameplay. It really does look great, though.
I've just decided that this is one of my most anticipated games. It's got style by the bucket full and the simple Boost 3D style of gameplay. Perfect.
We had this 'too simplistic' discussion during development. So, there are two game-play modes. 1. Pure distance mode. Speed gradually increases but you can hit bushes to slow you down a bit. Score is just the distance you get 2. Points mode. In this mode you collect gold orbs and speed boost pickups that are also score multipliers. So the faster you go the more points you get. Both modes have their own achievement awards and high-score tables. Nigel
You guys could have small upgrades with new modes/options in the future. Like a version with mutiple lights/orbs/whatever forcing you to go in a specific direction, and so on. As much as i like the idea and the tone, i can see people getting bored pretty fast, as there aren't many things to interact with (compare it to racing or "avoid" racing games, or running games). First thing i thought of, too.
Yeah, it does look simplistic... But something about it intrigues me so much that I guarantee I'll be buying it as soon as it hits the store. Maybe it just reminds me too much of actual dreams I've had... or something.
