Doesn't seem to affect Aussie's App Store. None of the games are at $1 except for volcano escape...

 

Volcano Escape is a really great game. If you don't already own it now is the time.

Just bought volcano escape. Like it, but the jump button placement is odd.

That was my problem with the game as well, and why I deleted it way back...it really is awkward.

How about letting the user configure the UI? That way everyone can put the jump button where it is most comfortable for them.

 

Probably letting the players configure the UI will be the best option. But during the game development we playtested the game with a lot of people and the best place for the button was the current position. The reason are simple:

1. You spend more time shooting than jumping
2. The shooting action is of the type "maintain" and the jump is "tap"
3. If we invert the positions, the player finger will be in a worst possition more time, making the gameplay harder because he can't view well

At the end is just a matter of maintaining the player view as cleaner as possible. But definitely, allowing the player changing the control scheme it's the best option

I personally don't have any problems with the controls, but saying that you shoot more than you jump is kinda silly. This is a game about jumping up platforms to escape rising lava.
