GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013. See www.apple.com/hr/ios/whats-new/ for iOS 7 compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.

Well sure. They've gotta keep their apps up to date with the OS.

Don't quote me on this but I just now got the "previous compatible version" of GarageBand loaded on my ipad 1st gen ios 5.1.1 just now for "free" which doesn't have all the iap, unless they decide to charge me full price, I should check my iTunes purchase history, I guess

Also, if you've purchased a new device iPhone 5s or IPad Air/mini & macs... You get all iWork & iLife apps for free (full versions)
