Game Summary Crystal Reign puts you in control of a customisable tower built from distinct layers of siege weaponry. An ancient army is rising and it’s up to you to aim your various armaments at this automated armada to knock them back down. Background Story After discovering a near limitless supply of power in the form of magical crystals, the world found itself in something of an arms race. In this quest for bigger and more zappy means of elimination scientists began to experiment with the crystals and from this, the Arcanalith were built. Drawing on the power of the crystals, these mechanical soldiers fought with such power that the people of the world were forced to leave their homes and take refuge in the mountains, far from the chaos below. Centuries on, the Arcanalith have long since wiped each other out and the people go about their daily lives in their mountainous homes. However, unbeknownst to these peaceful villagers, far below the fog of war that separates the peaks from the old battlegrounds something has begun to stir. As the Arcanalith rise from the earth, it is up to the player to knock them back down. To achieve this goal we’ll be supplying various forms of siege weaponry and magical defences that we advise aiming at the mystical robots that will be attacking. Over time, players will earn new layers and be able to build taller towers as they move onwards to take on the biggest and most dangerous of the Arcanalith. Dare Protoplay For any of you that are able to make it to Dundee between the 8th and 11th of August, Criss Cross Games (along with Hunted Cow) will be appearing at Dare Protoplay and will be showing off Crystal Reign! Come and get a better look at this guy, he's obviously taunting you!
On the run up to game launch, we're going to be posting up some previews of the enemies you'll encounter in the game The first is Mace! Mace Not every Arcanalith had a focus on ranged combat. Some were created by engineers that still longed for a time when one would simply march up to their enemy and punch them in the face. And it turns out; hitting things with big robotic fists is actually a pretty effective means of attack.
A preview of another of the enemies you'll encounter in Crystal Reign! Arc The magical field generated by Arcanalith has a slight magnetism towards other, paired chunks. Using this science, engineers were able to chain together chunks of raw arcanite to power the robot. However, funneling all the energy into the shooting part meant that the bot was easily distracted say by a squirrel running by or getting hit by a ballista.
We're now in the final stages of testing Crystal Reign and are aiming to submit it to Apple and Google Play within the next couple of weeks!
Good news everyone! We've now submitted Crystal Reign to Apple and are aiming for release on iPad on the 24th April! Here's a few screenshots from the App Store info for you
Unfortunately we had a little issue with the previous submission of the game to Apple, however the latest version has just been approved and will be out this Thursday!
$1.99 for the game which includes the the first campaign (16 levels, 2 bosses), then there is an additional campaign with another 16 levels and two more bosses available for $0.99. We felt rather than make the game $2.99, we set it to $1.99 then if you enjoy it you can grab the extra level for 99c
We've just had news from the developers that there is an issue with the submitted build and rather than release a sub-standard product, we're going to submit a patch and release it next Thursday (8th May) instead. Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to trying it out this week.
