I think you get to the thamos priest the first time and he disappears. He's standing like next to a coffin or something like that and he says something like "go my minions attack him". And right when your about to defeat him he disappears. Well if i remeber correctly you have to go back the other way where there was a fork in the path and go that way and you'll find him again and then you can beat him.
