Battle for Wesnoth is amazing. 200+ missions with more coming in future updates. They are giving it to you for $1.99

If you're looking for fantasy theme, Westnoth is your best bet (and it's on sale, good timing!)

    Uniwar is good, especially online.
Mecho Wars plays more like Advance Wars / Shining Force if you've played those.
    I don't have War 3100...
The Kings is fantasy setting and is good, but it's both strategy and turn-based battles.

I enjoy Civilization Revolution, definitely could use some updates though, however I doubt it will happen since its developer has stated they don't like how the appstore market works, everything being so cheap and all.

Bought Mecho Wars just because of this post.

Battle For Wesnoth and Uniwar are the best I've played. Civ is fun but not really worth it.

riegn o swords and riegn o the swords 2 are really good.i like wesnoth also but in some aspects its a little rough around the edges but it has a whole lot more content. but reign of swords stilll has enough content to keep you busy for awhile and the sequel just got an awsome update that added alot more content. another cool thing is that you can tranfer your army from the first game tio the second one. i would say uniwar is my favorite though. ugh and rogue planet was my least favorite ugh

The sales of the Total War series beg to differ. The genre is most definatly not dead. But making a turn based strategy game is much harder than an RTS I would think, as in an RTS, there are already so many things to keep you busy, whereas a TBS has to have alot of content to keep you from getting bored between turns.

I agree, M2TW wasnt what it could have been, but Rome: Total War was fantastic.
