Is it a good idea t start a non IAP games thread? I for one am fed up of paying out, then paying out again. I know that in a lot of instances you do not have to purchase, but what has happened to the 'good old fashioned' game. (Please excuse if this topic has been broached already)
Games with no IAP at all, from what I have installed: Super Crate Box Ski Safari Bee Leader Blast-a-Way Bitless Bad Hotel Sunshine Monsters Ate My Condo Waking Mars The Last Rocket Monkey Ninja Bubble Pig League of Evil 2 Silverfish
When you say non-IAP, how do you mean? There are different types of IAPs acceptable to the general TA crowd. I for one, am in favor of having IAPs in game as long as they are not required to progress in the game and as long as it isnt something that affects leaderboards scores. Types of IAPs i consider acceptable are the following (although i might miss something important): 1. IAP for the impatient 2. IAP to Unlock/Purchase Chapters & Expansions or to Unlock the Full Game 3. IAP for additional visual and audio cosmetics 4. IAP for donation 5. IAP for double ingame currency game - I usually get this because it doesnt change the game experience, but improves the speed of acquiring stuff without having to skip any of the fun. To be honest, I prefer paying a game full up front like the case of premiums like Anomaly Warzone Earth, Infinity Blade and Final Fantasy Titles, etc... Because I still get what i pay for. Axon Runners was a good $4 (or was it $5) purchase for me because i found the game very entertaining, and the IAP does not affect the game much to make the game too easy and the advantage you get for the IAP boards are more cosmetic than game-affecting. What I hate most, are games that let you buy "I win" items or effects though IAP, and when they affect either the game's leaderboards, or the multiplayer aspect of the game.
It's debatable whether the TA community approves of these types of iAP... 1 and 5 destroy the purpose of playing a game. It feels pointless working to get to the end when you know you can just spend money to set the difficulty to "unfairly easy" 2 and 3 are annoying, when I pay money for a game I'd like just the whole thing. But at times it can be acceptable, like DLC with console games. 4 is the only one I actually accept. As for games with NO iAP, see: World of Goo Superbrothers S&S Nihilumbra Wave Trip All GTA games Hundreds Incoboto Bastion Swordigo Perfect Cell Critical Missions: SWAT Tiny Wings League of Evil 1&2 And Rayman Jungle Run is an honorable mention, it's my GOTY for giving a full console experience that works on mobile but recently got paid DLC that unlocks other character costumes. I wish we could have gotten them for free, but this literally doesn't affect your game progress or difficulty (no features for paid characters other than looks) whatsoever.
I did say these are MY accepted IAP schemes. But i still firmly believe in what i put in there because these have never tempted me to buy anything except the doublers. For #1, what i actually meant here are those games which NEVER need the IAPs to progress. Perfect examples are EPOCH., MC3, IB1&2, Asphalt titles, and ARC Squadron. I think of them as soft cheats that you need to purchase to acquire. As long as the game does not force me to buy them, it is acceptable to me. 2&3 may be annoying to some, but im sure it is generally acceptable in the TA community in general. Thing is, i understand how difficult it is to make an iOS dev living with the current crowd that is the appstore. If the IAPs were made for the devs to make extra but are totally optional, is acceptable to me. Forcing you to buy IAPs is a different story.
I agree with the sentiment so far that we keep the list strictly non IAP. As in, if it has a "top in app purchases" tab on its main info page, it can't be on the list. Anyway, out of what I have: Doom Minecraft Pocket Edition Sid Meier's "Pirates!" LIMBO XCOM: Enemy Unknown
I guess i never really posted my list of no-IAPs, ones that i can remember Games without IAPs: Star Wars KOTOR Indiana Stone Polara Ronin Rayman Jungle Run Chaos Rings 1, Omega & 2 Spiral Ep1 XCom Enemy Unknown Limbo Ravensword 2 Zombies. Liberation Maiden After Burner Climax Danmaku Unlimited 2 Wrestle Jump Fireball SE Inferno+ Anomaly Korea Anomaly Warzone Earth Asterogue Attack of the Spooklings The Bard's Tale Crow Dungelot Eve of Impact Gene Effect Unmechanical God of Blades LOE 1, 2 and 3 Invader Hunter Lara Croft LEGO Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles Meganoid 1 & 2 Mirror's Edge Momonga Pinball Monkey Ninja Monsters Ate My Condo Nihilumbra Perfect Cell Plasma Sky Plants Vs Zombies The 7th Guest Waking Mars Sword and Sworcery Shardlands Shadowgun Run Roo Run Final Fantasy Tactics 774 Deaths Ark of Sinners Ridiculous Fishing
