Downloaded it with my NZ account, now to play it... didnt like the first one very much but this seems like a huge improvement... although watching Sanukus video looks like he is running in circles.

This is a worthy successor to the first game, definitely; it has that Rayman vibe of being a fuller-featured game than it actually is (not a bad thing). After a couple of longish runs where I only saw the same skypath-forest combination over and over, I was starting to suspect that this might have hit a wall very quickly, but then I ran headlong into the Indiana Jones-inspired minecart run, and those are always worth bonus points with me.

I can see the very limited range of environments getting old relatively quickly, though, so hopefully the developers have designed this sequel in such a way that new areas can be seamlessly added in over time to keep things fresh, and keep people playing.

Pitfall took a few ideas off Temple Run, then Temple Run took some ideas from Pitfall...
    How the wheel turns...

What's better in this than in Pitfall? Temple Run 1 was something new. But with all the great successors being released in the meantime: The End, Blood Roofs, Pitfall and many more...

Since it's free I'll download it of course, but I don't see any unique improvement while watching the videos.

    Probably nothing we havent seen.

But it's a tried and true formula that a lot of people loved and would want more of.

Yep, I dare say anyone who has played Pitfall will feel a sense of deja vu here amidst the undulating terrain and wooden bridges. While TR2 is certainly more accomplished visually, I do miss the multi-tiered paths of Pitfall, and its wider range of gameplay options, animations and environments. TR2 wins out in its general level design philosophy, though, which is a lot twistier and reflex-demanding than Pitfall's often tediously-extended straights (which sometimes felt more like a simple rhythm game: swipe up, up, up, down, down, down).

Hopefully TR2 is intended for expansion, though, and isn't just meant to be a simplistic sequel thrown out to take over from its aging cash cow predecessor.

^Pitfall is still unique with its switching camera angles and simplistic "combat" when Temple Run 2 only improved on the visuals and the cheapness of the traps (from what i see on the videos).

Surprisingly to me I enjoyed Pitfall a lot. Ended up deleting it though cause each run too long. The first Temple Run never clicked with me, but seeing all the comparison between this and Pitfall got me curious.

Well, since Pitfall won't run on my 3GS, I'm anxious to try this even if it isn't as good.
