I recently purchased Uniwar, and was looking for another game. I can't decide between Land Air Sea Warfare or the Battle for Wesnoth.

I'd say Battle For Wesnoth, unless you don't think you'd like the fantasy theme.

LASW says RTS right on the corner of the app... I dont own it but im gonna guess its not a TBS, so not really much of a contest

My bad for not realizing that they were two different genres of games, but which genre do you all prefer, TBS or RTS?

I got Reign of Swords from FAAD but never got into it. Is it very similar to BfW?

On the iPhone, I much prefer TBS. On the computer, it's the opposite.

    I'd recommend Transformers or Highborn.

Highborn is a good one if you can support the ironical approach of Fantasy but it's another genre of game it's a Heroes of Might & Magic genre.

Firstly, as people seem to have already noticed, Highborn is turn-based.

Also, I wouldn't say TBS is 'easier'. Just look at Fire Emblem and such. It's still difficult, just a different kind of difficult.

Heroes of Might and Magic is a genre? wat?

Well, yes and no. For one thing, it has proper ranged attacks. For another, it is more tactical than strategic - you get fixed amount of points before a scenario begins and buy all the troops you'll have access to, with some troops being more expensive than others. Then, it is pure battle. After the scenario is finished, you get loot and can upgrade your troops.

Unlike Wesnoth, it doesn't matter if a unit gets killed, it is still available for the next scenario. You can't just start every scenario with the strongest troops though, because what is best is highly situational and because due to flanking rules having a lot of cheaper units is sometimes better. There are very light story elements too.

Scenarios are varied and there are a lot of them. It is a very deep game, IMHO.

Re: Highborn, it is charming and I am liking it, but I wish it had an enemy AI to speak of...

Woo an ipad worms fan? I tried a lot understand how it was working and never succeed get how you could fire the default weapon without to hurt yourself.

Also the AI becomes very soon a precision machine never missing a shoot.

Definitely my most awful experience on ipad.

Ok strategery has random generated maps and online play with push notifications. Battle for wesnoth has live online play and tons of campaigns which are incredibly fun. Highborn is good but I couldn't get into it as much. Maybe it's the facebook connect that kinda ruins it for me. You mentioned LASW. I recommend red conquest! If u want an RTS. it's very complete with campaing, online multiplayer (not many ppl online though), challenge missions, tons of maps, different races, fast loadin times. Etc. These 3 games are some of my favorites. So... G luck :)
