Crystal Defender is very hard after the first couple of maps. Does anyone, who has beaten the later maps, have any advice?

Just the 1st part (4 maps).

I tried the 1st map of the 2nd part just once with no luck.

I've only beaten the first three maps on W1. I tried W2 and got pretty far

Yeah, I can get to wave 29, but that is it... and not every time. :(

This is one of the hardest tower defense games I have ever played.

There is a perfect rank too. I have only gotten perfect on Bisga (ADV).

Finished 1st map in W2. Great game. Thief is the key, upgrading it ASAP.

Managed to finish the first map of W1 and havenĀ“t played it since then, exhausting when all my thoughts were on how to best place my archers and thieves:) Anyway, will play the rest of them when I am in the mood for more tower defense. IMO still the best of the bunch.

Wow, finished 1st map in W3 with only 2 crystal left. Fun, fun game. Game play is great in this one, but I still hate the poor graphic and control.

Did you try all the tips I gave you in the main CD topic?

As far as I remember you didn't reply my last message there.

I've completed W1. Any suggestions on map 2 of W2? Map 1 of W2 took a while to beat but my strategy no longer works for map 2 because of the rocks.

I finished map 1,2,4 on W1 and 1,2 on W2, still trying on others.

Tip, one of the things I did when I first play the game was to spam the area with as much people as possible, there was like archers and wizards lining my path to the exit...
    Not effective.

The trick that got me past most of the W1 maps was having just 2 teams, bout 10 people each made mostly of the 4 basic classes, soldier, monk, archer, mage, 1 in the entrance and 1 in the exit. Dont waste money on extra people, waste it on upgrading your guys. Make sure each team has a thief to collect extra loot, this is absolutely necessary, when you have extra, get a time mage on the team.

Once you got that concept, experiment on where to place the 2 teams efficiently.
That should get you by, it did for me at least ;)

My plan is simple: Upgrading 1st thief is first priority with kill most monsters near that upgraded thief. I usually start with one war at first wave, upgrade war for 2nd wave, put thief near war when you have 50g at 3rd wave. After that, just upgrade or add class according to enemy in next wave, with fully utilizing the thief.

I usually do that but by the time I get to the 'immune' and the later fast creatures I have to burn summons to finish them off. I guess I'll keep at it. Do you use dragoon's at all? They're pretty good at first but seem very ineffective later due to their speed even with speed crystals around them.

One or two dragons at most. For immue wave, I do use summon though.
When you have money, try to save it. Only spend money enough to finish current wave. You will get bonus after each wave, sometimes I have 150+ bonus each wave :). And use those range, speed, attack power crystals, they are very helpful.

Finally beat W2-M2 with 1 crystal left yay! :) In case anyone's wondering my strategy I posted a pic. All units were maxed out except the top right soldier.

-1 thief, 4 soldiers, 2 monks, 4 black mages, 3 archers and 1 time mage.
    - I used 3 summons (wave 22, wave ?, wave 30) I think the other summon was on one of those fast-moving+immune-to-magic creatures near the end. They were all ifrit summons.

I currently have fieldrunners, 7 cities td and crystal defenders. I love them all but imho crystal defenders is the most challenging. I just wished they'd make the graphics larger.
