An easy way to figure if a game was released in 2012 or not is to search the game on Appshopper. The site will have stats about the game on the right hand side about the release date as well as sales. Here you go LOLavi: http://appshopper.com/games/crazy-hedgy
This year I would like to restate my request that the nomination period not stop before the end of the year (or Christmas App Store lock-down) so as to include all releases for the year and allow fair play time.

Hmm... I'm afraid my list will have at least have 4 runners. But then we can't nominate yet. EDIT: just read that we can discuss possible noms... I'll start with an IF... If gameloft fixes the server issues, HOC will bee a good candidate for me.

That's incredibly useful Echoseven, thanks! Any way that post could be merged into one of the first posts?
I know it is not counted, but I just feel like posting my list now. May repost again later if I still remember. My top 10 (OK, only 7 so far. Might surely add a few more before the year ends - expecting MC4 and RR3 to fill those shoes).: - Lili (really amazing game. stunning visuals, amazing controls, innovative "combat". not a long campaign so can be finished in a day, which is a plus for me). - Polara (needless the say arguably the best platformer I've played since I was born. Uber simple controls, unparalleled level design, lots of depth, content and replayability) - Rayman Jungle Run (the funnest platformer. On the easy side of things, but the graphics are amazing, and getting all the Lums is no easy task). - Need for Speed Most Wanted (not the equivalent of its console version at all in terms of depth and content, but I tell you what, this is perfectly suited for a mobile game. Great sense of speed and glorious visuals) - Heroes Call (didn't start on the right note due to a delirious IAP scheme, but the devs listened and the whole game was overhauled. Great RPG stuff, and the short levels make for a perfect mobile game. Not much depth but I love it for what it is) - Shadowgun: DeadZone (Man, this is the best online shooting game. Hands down. Used to spend a lot of time on Nova 3 mp, but this just blows it. Top drawer visuals, mechanics and an IAP scheme that is more than fair to the non-playing player) - Nova 3 (I'm an FPS geek, and this is pretty good. Long campaign, great multiplayer. Not much to say, so glitches here and there, but great title all the same) Some disappointments (from what I expected them to be): Wild Blood, Dead Trigger Some that are on the sidelines (worth a shout): ME: Infiltrator, Angry Birds Star Wars (and Space), Devil's Attorney, Totem Runner, Gear Jack, Total War Battles, Splice, Skyriders, Beach Buggy Blitz, Horn, Waking Mars, Bladeslinger (*included Horn and Bladeslinger after much deliberation). PS: I only recently started playing games on iOS. I've got some pretty good favourites from the Android Tegra platform - Auralux (great simple RTS) and Puddle (liquid physics based puzzler).
Wow, outside of Bad Piggies (which I really didn't like), I've not played any of the rest, much less heard of most of them. What does that say about me???
Not much actually. Most of those would be considered by many of us to be "hidden gems". They aren't very well known and they appeal to a certain niche. If you are into platformers though, I'd say check out Super Crate Box and Mikey Shorts.
