I'm old school, but not hardcore. Freemium tends to annoy me. My fave fighting game series are Tekken and Virtua Fighter. I have a 7+, an SE, and a Pro 9.7". But I do most of my gaming on the 7+. What can y'all recommend?
I would highly suggest Kinetic Damage. It's an incredibly deep and strategic fighter based in real martial arts. The only drawback is it's old, and likely won't ever get updated which means it might not make it through the iOS 11 Appocalypse. The developer made it completely free a while back though, basically because he ran out of money and had to stop working on it but wanted people to be able to experience it if they wanted. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kinetic-damage/id653222766?mt=8 Other options would include any of the DotEmu NeoGeo ports, like the King of Fighters games, Samurai Shodown II, and Garou Mark of the Wolves. My two top picks would be Garou or KoF 98. They suffer the same problem of not being updated for 64-bit yet, but given DotEmu's reputation I'd say there's a pretty high chance they'll be updated eventually. That said, it's still really fun! It's also not true widescreen but they did at least update it with border art and made the sidebars touch friendly so it still plays really well. Kinetic Damage is the ios fighter. It is an achievement in design and remains challenging to this day.
