I recorded a full game (up to round 15) the other night that should give you a good feel for gameplay. banger1103 Well-Known Member Jun 26, 2011 711 0 0 #6 banger1103, Sep 14, 2012 Looks interesting I think I'll get it. And the file size is definitely welcome eAdvisory Well-Known Member Nov 22, 2011 1,090 0 0 Detroit #7 eAdvisory, Sep 14, 2012 Is there achievements or any unlocks? seems to me by the description that there is nothing to work towards or do really. kode80 Well-Known Member Jan 11, 2011 104 0 0 See interests :) Florida http://kode80.com/ #8 kode80, Sep 14, 2012 No achievements. This is definitely a leaderboard focused game - you can either aim for the highest score or to survive to the highest round. Due to the scoring system these are not necessarily tied to one another. For example, it is possible to build up huge scores each round by building massive combos but then it is also possible to progress through the rounds by just getting rid of 10 individual Octopi. If it's popular and people really want achievements I can certainly add them in the first update. kode80 Well-Known Member Jan 11, 2011 104 0 0 See interests :) Florida http://kode80.com/ #9 kode80, Sep 14, 2012 I posted this in response to someone in the original Oh Hi! Octopi! thread so I'll repost it here for those looking for some gameplay tips: * hitting Octopi with the wrong color will change the Octopi to that color and clone a new Octopi. This can be used to your advantage in earlier rounds * the order of the paint ball colors you are given in the bubble never changes so you can plan for what color you will receive next. It goes; red, purple, green, yellow * bombs are given randomly depending on how many Octopi are currently on screen. The more Octopi on screen = the more chance you have of receiving a bomb * hammering a row of dazed Octopi will move the whole row * hammering a row of dazed Octopi rotates their colors with each hit. The direction the colors rotate is dependent on what side you hit the row from - use this to your advantage * split rows and use the color rotation to arrange colors into groups, increasing your chance of getting combos organically. For example, if you had a row of 4 dazed Octopi, yellow, yellow, red, red - walk into the middle of the row and hammer so you break the row into 2 rows - the two yellows and the two reds * wrong colored paint balls won't hit dazed Octopi, use this to send paint balls through a row of dazed Octopi to hit the one you want * dazed Octopi stay dazed for about 30secs, if you hit them again it'll reset this dazed timer so you can keep Octopi dazed to build up a combo * when dazed Octopi wake up the direction they start walking in is predictable - if they are on the right side of the screen they'll start walking right and if they are on the left side of the screen they'll start walking left. This can be used strategically to your advantage... * if you watch the full game video I posted a few posts ago you'll see a big part of combos is chaining Octopi between the 3 platforms. Big Octopi are great for this since they are bigger so have a greater chance of hitting Octopi below them as they fall off screen * the bigger the combo the bigger the points and the more Octopi you'll get rid of, leaving you with more space * for each octopi in the combo the points received will double * combos drop kamaboko for each Octopi, if you pick up 100 you'll get an extra heart * collecting the bonus balls will give you 500pts each, collect all B,O,N,U,S to clear the screen and start a bonus round * collect all kamaboko in the bonus round to receive an extra heart (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
