Niiiiiiice! Optional scanlines and arcade face! Great stuff! And the controls with the picture of the sticks = genius! I hope they move around realistically, that would be the icing on the cake! Thanks for the heads up! EDIT: Full play of the japanese version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU5OO4q8lSg
Fantastic! I loved the original when it came out. If you can get the controls right, and the price is reasonable, I would buy this.
Hey Guys. Quick response to your questions... - Joysticks do indeed move - ETA? Definately April, barring a disaster. Of course it's always in the hands of the jobs. - Price and controls. We're confident both will impress Keep em comin
Full Point! I'll be first in line to grab this I'm glad to hear that all the bonus rounds will be included, especially the bull-killing one. What is "super large character option"? "Various new user settings" sounds promising. Can you elaborate? Does it happen to include the dipswitch options from the arcade original? It would be fun to include cocktail mode. You say indicate it's a rewrite. Are the AI and game mechanics based strictly on the original code? Will it include a mode with higher resolution art or new sounds?
some answers... Good questions While I can't go into tooo much detail just yet, here's some answers to the above. 1. Option to enlarge characters to be bigger on-screen. 2. No 3. Sorry I didnt quite catch that 4. As close to as possible. 5. No. (retro ftw )
Err I'm not sure where we even begin with that comment. Maybe it does if you were really really constipated.
hehe I figured Actually Karate Champ (the original and iPhone versions) does allow 1 hit knock-downs. The game is played on the basis of rounds of karate (ala Karate Kid) where you score either a half point or full point depending on the move chosen and timing with which you execute. Two full points required to win a round, win 2 rounds to continue on to the next opponent. Sounds easy but it aint You could argue you need more skill than some other fighting games slash button mashers. Anyway it'll be at a price that hopefully everyone can experience this classic. Hope this helps explain a bit.
hm... i'll just stick to jump ultimate stars (in my opinion the greatest portable fighting game EVAR)
I guess he's never watched a Karate match. Or any martial arts tourney. But even more than that... who doesn't know Karate Champ, for Christ's sake?
Classic karate: one strike, one kill. In some respects, the lack of a health bar makes matches more intense. After each round, depending on the quality and type of strike that was landed, the winning player is awarded either a "half point" or "full point." First player to reach 2 full points takes the match. Between crouching, blocking, summersaulting, there's quite a bit of depth to the game. You can even feint by stopping an attack before your limb is fully extended. 7:36: in video: player kills the bull!
well, i know one shot kills are cool and all and in some games, that works (like karate fighter for example) but i just think that in one on one fighters, it wouldnt work. BUT i havent played the game yet so i wouldnt know
