I can confirm that iPhone OS 3.1 breaks Vans SK8: Pool Service. The music doesn't play and the game immediately crashes as soon as the skater tries to perform a trick!!

What other games are broken by OS 3.1??

Feel free to add any incompatible games to this thread!

The memory for my apps reduced greatly! Was there some sort of compression involved? Same amount of apps but went down by 1/3 - 1/2. Was near 2 GB now under 1. Anyone else have this happen?

That's really, really weird. Have you deleted a bunch of apps over time? The OS might have done some sort of defragmenting of your memory. I can't think of why or how it would shrink existing app memory sizes and still leave them playable.

When I updated to 3.0.1 I gained an extra 600 megs. Nothing happened after the 3.1 update.

I guess I do do a fair amount of playing and then deleting when I beat a game but I just thought it was so weird to compress all that memory. Not complaining mind you! I did try a majority of the games for a minute or two today and they all work! Didn't have the time to give them all a good test run but far as I can see its all fine. Self defragmenting sounds like a plausible explanation. Makes me wonder why then we can't do that ourselves or why its not happening automatically - especially with the theory I hear Apple has of when its gone its gone.

@Reagonomics - I didn't gain anything at the 3.0 update point so maybe I gained mine now instead.

Overall I just thought it was a weird phenomenon so wondered if anyone else experienced the same thing since I THINK a compression of the data would come from the games themselves not the device.

installing the 3.1 update seems to have crashed my ipod and required that it restores to factory settings. because i really wanted to spend an hour syncing things tonight. brilliant. thanks once again itunes for proving that there is always a more difficult way

    Slaving peon.
Not here; not there; not anywhere!
It most certainly broke Ms Pac-Man. The game consistently crashes after load-up now. A reinstall didn't alleviate the problem. So far, it's the only game I've noticed that had any issues.

How so? It's software-related, not hardware.

    I've noticed that.

Single soft tap when on the home screen takes me to Spotlight.

    Double tap does nothing.

If this is an issue, I want to thank Apple for once again giving me some features on the one hand and on the other snatching some away from me.
