Hello people! Spearhead Entertainment is happy to announce the upcoming release of the game Phoenix Spirit coming to the AppStore the 17th of May. The main appeal of the game is about exploring the forest and discovering the cause of the Mother Tree's illness. To do this you will be able to unlock new areas as well as revisit old areas in order to gain new powers to cure the disease. People who are familiar with games like Metroid, Castlevania or Aquaria should feel right at home! The gameplay is comparable to a traditional shooter but with the freedom of flying. This adds exciting new gameplay in a whole new dimension! Phoenix Spirit is a game that is for everyone. Even if you haven't played games before it will be easy to understand with it's simple controls and gameplay using the iPhone's accelerometer. Getting through the game will be fun and provide plenty of challenge. We’ll be updating this post as often as we can with more screenshots, videos and new info up until the game is released, so keep checking this thread. Homepage: http://spirit.spearheadgames.com
I've sent my email, as I would like to help beta test this game. Its captured my attention so I hoe I get picked and good luck to everyone else!!
Thank you for your applications everyone! I'm happy to unofficially announce that the first closed beta test should be live later this week or early next week, depending on how ready we deem the product to be. There are however still spots to take if anyone wants in on the beta, so don't hesitate to send an application to [email protected] if you're insterested as a teaser I'll share some more music from the development flow of this game, this time the piece "Forest of Souls", I hope it inspires you! http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/319110
I really like the look of this game, and I'd be more than willing to beta test. I'll drop you an email soon. Oh, and I love the music
First beta test in the works, Updates "New week, and new obstacles to get through, all in a day's work for the Spearhead Entertainment crew!" This day I've been busy with organizing a nice homepage which will be used for our closed Beta testers. The theme for our first test will be about: Note: this is just a small part of a screenshot of the homepage which will be able to the testers which means that it will be out any day now. It is NOT however too late to sign up if you would want to help us out in developing this free-flying adventure. If you are interested, drop us a mail at [email protected]. We are VERY grateful for whatever feedback we may get! Right now we're in the middle of implementing the following features: Non-Linear Progression, which gives players a higher degree of freedom to explore the world (Example: Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night) A vast coherent world instead of multiple levels More substantial fail mechanics in the form of enemies. This replaces earlier mechanic that ended the game as soon as you had no speed left Powerups to help you navigate the level and unlock new parts of the world
I agree it feel magical just watching the video and hearing the music. It elt surreal. I think someone playing this will feel relaxed and happy. I sent email. I really hope to beta test this! ^0^
So what does everyone make of the beta? I like it, if you really pay attention, the background is multi layered and looks deep. The music is relaxing and very fitting for an adventure game. Colours and art style are very indie, something I really appreciate in a game. Also, the mechanics work well, I was moving around the environment perfectly within a few minutes. Only thing I find weird is when you hit a wall, you sometimes get stuck on it even if you press the appropriate button to dismount. All in all, I think it is a very good start.
