How much do you think the devs lost from their money, time and effort in making the game that they resorted to dropping the price to get more interest in their game as early as a few days from release? nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #10 nightc1, Dec 5, 2014 If you aren't excited enough to play it the moment you buy it, then why buy it? I tend not to buy games unless they are something I'm actually wanting to play right then or it's a sale and I don't mind throwing some money towards something even if I never play it. It should be par for the course that most smaller devs release at one price and then have a sale because of the whole idea of a "sale" will trigger some people to jump and buy right then. I'm actually kind of shocked how many regs haven't caught on to this practice yet. I stand behind all of my purchases as it being up to me to decide when to buy and when not to. On the flip side, I kind of wish there was some price protection for newly launched games... as well as some quality control over which games actually get launched... but that's a thought for another thread. ... I know it's only 2 dolars, I know it's not much, but you can buy Crazy Taxi, Another World, The Inner World and a lot of other great games right now with that. Lol nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #15 nightc1, Dec 5, 2014 I think a kick in the bollocks would hurt a lot more than a couple bucks. Hey I've been stung too with early sales after a game I was anticipating released. But, I have to look at it as I wanted the game and thought the price was fine and went for it. ... As for this game, I did some research... it's iOS7 so I'm out... but reading the thread on the game... http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=249697 It's tap/hold left or right side of the screen to raise and move in that direction... hold both left & right to go straight up and no touching makes the chopper descend. So pretty basic controls. Gameplay seems pretty basic too with it auto firing for you and all but it gets hard as the levels go on and you have to deal with the controls reflecting the weight of the people you save and the weather effects. It does seem to be Choplifter-ish... as you rescue people and take out tanks and stuff. Overall the game sounds like it could be fun with 16 levels... but it's iOS7 and I'm waiting till my next iphone to bother upgrading. I'd rather be able to easily play GTA Vice City and San Andreas and other big games on my iphone without memory issues. Rutter1984 Active Member Nov 21, 2014 37 0 0 #17 Rutter1984, Dec 5, 2014 Yeah I've learnt my lesson with this one. Wait till the weekend and see if the price drops. Never even heard of it till I seen a thread for it. I just thought "hey, this looks cool" and snapped it up. It may only be £1.99, but when it drops to 0.69p; you could use the difference to put towards another game or two. No more impulse buys for me unless it's bear minimum price. This game is a steal at the sale price. It's a bit short, but a good fun game. We invested a lot of time, effort and money into this game, and really thought this title would be good enough for Apple. So far we only received very positive feedback. By our surprise, Apple's editorial team didn't think this game was as good as any of the featured games this week, we didn't get any slot, not even in any sub-sub categories in any country. Today the game started to disappear and if you are not in the 200 and are not featured, you are nowhere. People won't see the game at all. Yes, we've did indie and social media promos but these were not strong enough. We had to make a price drop to let the game stay on the charts and make it a bit more visible. If we were featured, certainly we would have kept the price $2.99 Thanks for your understanding, we greatly appreciate your early support. This keeps us motivated to expand the game. We are working on a bunch of new content to make the game deeper and longer. Rutter1984 Active Member Nov 21, 2014 37 0 0 #19 Rutter1984, Dec 5, 2014 No worries and thanks for clearing that up. I understand where you are coming from. It's a shame that it's not featured. The majority of UK featured games are freebies, loaded with IAP's. Either Apple have a bad taste in games or rather chase commission off IAP's. Happy with the purchase regardless and it's good to hear that more content is incoming. Jake7905 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2013 1,004 0 0 #20 Jake7905, Dec 5, 2014 Understandable, and bought. I'm surprised Apple didn't feature this game, especially when you look at all the freemium dreck occupying the "Best" New Games feature. Then again, when Peggle Blast is the Editors Choice, nothing should be surprising. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
