Well, I'm curious. This is a question for you devs out there, how big is your paycheck? Do you guys rake in lots of profit or do you bring in a modest amount every week? Is it your second job? Or are you full time? I've always wondered how much money indie devs make off their games. Or even the big companies like gameloft and EA mobile.

It depends how good your games are, and how much financial backing you can get for marketing.

I couldn't tell you about the big studios, but our first paycheck from Apple was just shy of a $1K after one month of sales.
Ofcourse all that money wont be going into my own wallet (I wish).
After paying for bills and company costs, profits (and therefore actual pay) are tiny.

IMO its definitely not a replacement for a stable job with a steady income.

Whether or not it will even be worth the effort, depends entirely on the size of the studio and the quality of the game in question.

Feels like gambling at a casino more than anything: you win some, you lose some.

If you're good, it can be a nice side income.
If you're great, it can be a full-time thing.

It's been said before that the vast majority of apps don't make back their development costs.

It all depends on how good your games are. I for one, am planning on becoming a develper for iOS soon.

It depends on how popular your games are, not how "good" or polished they are. If they don't pique the interest of buyers they won't get popular. If they are over priced they won't get popular. If they have crucial bugs at launch they won't get popular even after you fix them, especially if they get reviewed before the problems are ironed out. If they come out during a flurry of new games, or a flurry of games on sale, they can get overlooked. If they don't become popular in the first couple of weeks, they face a difficult up hill battle with little chance of success.
