App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store. At one time this was the Starbucks Pick of the Week. As of later tonight, it's temporarily free for everyone. I prefer it to Shazam.
No ads. Quoting their FAQ: "Paid users tell us that they purchased SoundHound ∞ for the ad-free experience, especially on the unlimited lyrics pages. But we want to go further than that, so we are making SoundHound ∞ the lead app for SoundHound's new features. If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, it already includes exclusive links to artists' Wikipedia pages, as well as Song Recommendations; if you have an Android phone, you'll gain access to a home screen widget, which allows you to identify music without launching the application."
This seems to be the original Soundhound app, renamed into Soundhound Infinity, because I got the original app, and the App Store shows me having Infinity and not the free one.
Which is what I said in the first post. Will be free when the App Store switches prices for the evening, 11 pm eastern US time.
Your local app server might be a little slow to update the price, but it is absolutely 100% free right now.
I've been using Shazam for almost 2 years now. Can someone enlightened me if this is better? I tried both and the only difference I see is the link to iTunes radio.
The only reason I used Soundhound was because Shazam was unavailable in my App Store... Soundhound is practically useless though. By the time I hear a piece on tv I want identified and have retrieved my iPhone and launched Soundhound, the song has usually stopped playing...
Honestly I liked Soundhound in the beginning, at least the novelty of it. But I've found it's 10x's faster to just search a part of the lyrics on Google and you'll find a song in about 5 seconds 99% of the time
