Hi folks, Yann here from Lucky Frame. We made the IGF-nominated games Bad Hotel and Pugs Luv Beats, among other things. Bad Hotel also won a BAFTA, for what it's worth...

Anywho, I just thought you all might be interested in our brand new music game, which will be released this Tuesday 22nd January. It's called Wave Trip. From our website where you can see some a teaser video:
Wave Trip is a musical arcade game for iPad and iPhone. You control a mysterious and wonderful geometric astronaut as she travels through worlds of unimaginable beauty and danger, saving her friends through the medium of awesome tunes.

Players can create their own levels and share them with the world. Every object in Wave Trip has musical characteristics, so creating a level is just like writing a piece of music - just easier.

We are super proud of it and very excited! Let me know if you have any questions or comments. We have a few extra advance copies available, so at the end of the weekend I'll pick two people who posted on this thread at random and give them a code.

I really am looking forward to the user generated levels for people to play. Having the game opened to a community of players Id think a lot of cool level ideas can come from it. Is the level designer pretty much drag and drop-> making it quick and easy?

Very interesting project. Sounds like a new type of music game, and that's a very good thing indeed.

    good stuff

game looks like a love child of whale trail, groove coaster, and a programmable drum machine. great work guys. would love a code but i'd probably pick this up anyway just on that trailer alone.

Hey folks! Thanks for all of the kind words. Man, waiting for a release date is hard, I get so impatient. I want everyone to be playing it now!

Also, I love the word "insta-buy".

    One answer for you:
I talk about this a little bit in this interview with Edge, but in a nutshell, yes we tried to make the level creation as easy as possible (whilst still giving it depth). It's actually the exact same editor that we used to make all of the built-in levels of the game! So you get all of the same tools we had.

We didn't include any tutorial for building the levels, because I'm confident that even average players will be able to make fun things - it's certainly fun to play with, it's basically a very simple drum machine! You place the individual objects on a grid. They make sound as you place them, and that sound loops. There are more parameters than that, but you don't really need to be aware of them in order to make a functional level.

I meant to respond to this too - that's a great description! We've also thought about it as Jetpack Joyride + Sound Shapes + Tiny Wings + programmable drum machine :)

thanks for the kind words, i'm really glad that you like the look of it.

Thanks for the quick reply! I definitely believe this game will be soon added to my game collection upon release date that's for sure.
Also the description of taking pieces from all those other games and adding a new element is exciting
