What about Swords of Fargoal - great old school rogue RPG - $2.99 intro price. TA discussion here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=35158
Yes, I meant the second one, though I actually got on better with the first one than a lot of others seemed to. But yes, the second one is leagues above the first. While I'm here, I should also add I'd wholeheartedly recommend Undercroft as well, if the original poster isn't set on the top-down perspective only. Wonderful rpg, and even has a sense of humour akin to Yipe.
Yeah, im playing through the original Inotia on the side, right now, the first thing i noticed was how Sega-ish the music was. Very nostalgic.
that unfortunately i suspect is true but i'll give sword a go seeing as its on introductary price and seems to be liked !
I played quite a few rpg apps during development to try and see how other games handled certain elements of the user interface. I tried to make sure I didn't get too addicted to anything though, since I was supposed to be working on development. Heh. Undercroft does have a pretty cool dialog and I liked the gameplay. Was a bit challenging at times to figure out what you were supposed to do and I honestly didn't make it that far. RogueTouch is pretty decent, especially if you liked the original ascii version. Haven't tried Inotia or Fargoal yet. The two games that actually did hook me, but are not really rpg's, were: "Spider - The Secret of Bryce Manor" and "The Creeps". The Creeps is a tower defense type game (which I tend to like) and Spider is just completely original and creative. -Kevin (Yipe 5)
