It's going to be a great New Year for fans of Digital Eel's award-winning space adventure game Weird Worlds - we're bringing it to iPad in January. Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is available for Mac & PC and we've partnered with Digital Eel to bring their game to the iPad. As you'll see from the screenshots, the game includes a lot of text, so isn't well suited to iPhone and iPod touch, but it plays great on the iPad. Here's the game icon: And a few reduced size screenshots to give you a small taster of the game: We'll be back soon with a video of the iPad version, but if you want to check out the PC/Mac demo in the meantime, here's a link.
There may be some elements in common with Warpgate, but Weirds Worlds is more retro (the PC game came out back in 2005). It has a really quirky sense of humor and is somewhat reminiscent of text-based games, but with a bunch of weird and wonderful graphics thrown into the mix. Each game is pretty quick - no more than 30 minutes each time, but as the universe is randomly generated each time, you get a new game and scenario each time you play. As the game does have a lot of text in it, it doesn't lend itself to iPhone/iPod touch as you'd spend a lot of time scrolling through info. The iPad's larger screen allows this to be displayed in one block, so for now, this will be an iPad only release.
We hope that it should be the same speed. Have run the Mac version and the iPad version and they're pretty much identical, save for some required changes for iPad (for instance, you don't have to select your monitor size!). We should have a video of it running on the iPad a little later today!
