I hope it's a FPS. To me it sounds like it's possibly a FPS or TPS set in WW2. Can't wait to find out more.
"We’re offering odds of 100/1 that it’s an entirely original title with no strong influences from successful home console franchises. Back it if you dare." Lol. Probably, as gameloft has been rather hurt lately that people have been been bashing on their games because they are clones, and not original. Sorry, not trying to start an arguement, as I realized it might become as I was typing this sentence. But I can't wait to see what this game turns out. Personally, I'm guessing that it's a WW2 type shooter.
Well, are the home console franchises entirely original? no. And I'm also thinking this will be a FPS or TPS set in WW2...
Pocketgamer seem to be so sure about it being original, but I think they get their confidence only because of BackStab.
And 9mm looks kind of original. I do think Gameloft are gradually trying to make their games more original, or at least make it less obvious as to which games they are cloning.
I think they're so sure because gameloft mentioned somewhere that they tried to make 9mm into an original game, instead of a clone of something. So they probably think that Gameloft is going to try be more original with their games from now on.
Its a "new IP" that takes place in WW2 and you play as the Army Rangers. From Wikipedia: Saw the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ No gameplay but its does seem to include WW2 Era buildings and weapons and outfits. Pretty neat. I can't wait.
I agree with you here, they do seem to be trying to move away from the clones and be more original. TouchGen said in the preview of 9mm that Gameloft made it clear that their intention was to make a more original title, and I for 1 hope it sets a precedent for them going forward. Also, to be fair to Gameloft, many of their games do have some interesting and fairly original ideas in them. Unfortunately, for the most part they are surrounded by way more cloned ideas or just not very well implemented.
Curse you, Rick Ashley! Curse your toe-tapping melodies and boyish good looks! Excuse me while I take my robot out onto the dance floor. Gameloft really needs to work on their branding. Backstab, 9mm, and March of Heroes aren't the sort of titles that inspire excitement. On one hand, we have flashy, memorable names like Borderlands, Homefront, Red Faction, Infamous, Crysis, Operation Flashpoint, LA Noire, Bulletstorm, Assassin's Creed. On the other hand, we have drab, mundane, wholely forgettable names, like Backstab and March of Heroes.
