Hi everyone. We have a new game in the works that we are previewing.

    Who is Part Time Evil?
We are industry veterans who are finally making our own games (common tale these days, we know). We’ve worked on DS games, iPhone games, and console games like: Mechassault 2, Fracture, Darksiders 1 and 2, Blacksite: Area 51. But we really like iPhone puzzlers the most.

    What is Zig Zag Zombie?
For puzzle games, we like to take some familiar elements and use one weird, different feature. The monsters in our game orbit around a center point, so you drag and aim them. The thing that makes it different is that they all simultaneously launch.

The game is called Zig Zag Zombie because the main character is a Zombie, but there’s much more to it. He has a group of friends that are also cute monsters. Imagine a Zombie, a Vampire, and a little crazy Bomb monster all hanging out.

    So why’s it fun?
We have 5 monsters and they all have special powers that interact with certain obstacles. So as the game goes on, the monsters interact with each other and the obstacles to make crazy puzzles. Since they launch at once, sometimes you have to use timing to make one monster hit an object to make way for another! The end result is a combination of the geometry of pool and the “I set it up and it works” magic of games like Incredible Machine.

Aren't there like a thousand games with Zombies?
Yeah pretty much. But this game has a LOT of different types of monsters. Just none of them make a name as cool as Zig Zag Zombie, so he got to be the main character. And he has a cool headband. We hope you like the game too.

    Updates?
We’ll post more here, but for now we just want to give a preview. So thanks for looking. We’re really happy to be working on something we super duper like playing!

EDIT: OUR KICKSTARTER WAS FULLY FUNDED. Thanks!
Here is the kickstarter, which obviously love people to share.

Hi there! Very nice thematic, art and video!

The game sounds like potentially tons of fun, however the gameplay sequence might be a bit short on the video to get a clear grasp of the game.

What is the central game mechanic? Will it be possible to place objects (or monsters) on the screen and set up your puzzle before launch like in incredible machine? And the goal would be to have your monsters reach some key positions through out the level? How many levels planned?

    Thanks!

Gameplay vid: The preview definitely just has a little sample of the gameplay, but we will put a longer sample up soon.

About our monster friends: The game is very level-design based, so each level has certain monsters and certain obstacles. The monster powers complement the obstacles, and in some cases you can solve levels in more than one way!

Goal: The monsters are trying to get to the Anti Monster Squad (the mean looking guys with the sunglasses)! The secondary (harder to get) goals are the cookies.

60+ levels at launch. 3 worlds of around 20.

Thanks for asking. We will check in as much as we can to answer questions and post some more pics!

Awesome! And you must place your monsters at the beginning, or you just set a speed/direction for one of them, a bit like for billiards?

The monsters are constrained to a circle around the button. So you drag them around the circle to aim.

We had a power meter but found it was more fun without it, since there is plenty to think about with the angle gameplay and the interaction of powers with obstacles.

We basically keep testing it with people who have never played it, and once they "get" it without us explaining more than one thing, then we are happy!

    New Screenshots

Sorry for lack of updates. We are really busy finishing the game and chose to delay it and get a huge amount of powers and levels.

Here is the bomb character in action with new FX:

And here is the frankenstein-style character, who has the brick-breaking power:

Thanks for looking, and we'll be posting a gameplay vid soon!

One more thing. Our kickstarter was successful so thanks to all the people who helped! We are a true indie with NO funding, so it's really helping.

Here is our latest icon. We decided to do something different and add the logo. Even though it's not readable on the iphone, we feel like it balances the icon out.
    Hope you like!

    Gameplay videos

Hey everyone, sorry that we've been MIA but we have been doing local user tests here in Austin and many many fixes. But now that it's SXSW we needed to show some people the gameplay, so we made videos. We think the core mechanic of ZZZ is pretty unique, so the videos show that. Since our preview videos were all fluff, we just made simple gameplay vids.

Thanks for checking out our thread!

Gameplay: The main cool think (in my opinion) about Zig Zag Zombie is that each character has its own abilities and ways to affect the environment. They use these powers to help each other in the levels.

    Char Name: Zomb
Namesake of the game. He is the core character, a nerdy Zombie guy.

Sweet, nice to see some gameplay vids. The characters moving around the start button in a circle is pretty interesting. Liking the bright colors.

Getting some of the in-game sounds in the video would be cool too.

Overall though, good to see it's coming together.
