Thank you, glad to hear you like what you're seeing! Now that we've SHOWN a sneak peek of what Ant Raid looks like, we figured we should let you HEAR it as well. So here's "Mushroom Jive", one of the many original in-game songs of Ant Raid: (for best audio quality, switch to "720p" from the bottom-right corner) If you guys and girls like what you're hearing, let us know and we might just release the entire soundtrack! Free of charge, of course
Thank you -- love to hear that! There's a good chance we might treat you with some more music soon But before that, here's a quick look at a few of the in-game enemies of Ant Raid. As you can see, it's horrible what a small breath of insecticide can do to snails, bees, beetles and worms!
ah,as i am getting old, these ants or insects cannot attract me any longer...What i am showing interest maybe "bigger" animalssuch as sheep, chicken,or some more stratigic games...like the doodle games,fitin,manias....
Thank you for the comment, sixthturn, much appreciated! Unfortunately we can't turn the insects into mammals at this point anymore, though zombie sheep and vampire minks DO sound interesting now that you think of it But we're happy to tell you that Ant Raid is guaranteed to scratch your itch for strategy! Nothing too complicated, but something little to keep your mind busy when playing -- think of "gut-feeling based real-time tactics" rather than "designing complex war-strategies on paper." Oh, and you can expect the word mania to be highly emphasized as well! But don't just take our word for it -- hopefully we are able to convince you with Ant Raid's gameplay trailer, once it's ready soon
How did I miss this one? Looks really promising! I'm not sure what to expect from the gameplay though... Will this be an RTS similar to Starcraft or am I completely off the track here?
Scarface81: Glad to hear we finally got your attention too! We at Prank try to avoid the use of "RTS" when talking about Ant Raid's gameplay, since it can give a slightly wrong idea The actual gameplay IS about managing your ant troopers by assigning different tasks for them in real-time, so in a way, yes, this is an RTS. But just to clear up any false expectations, we'd like to point out the following: 1) RTS fans shouldn't expect a traditional experience -- they should be aware that Ant Raid aims to offer a breath of fresh air to the genre. Instead of preparing and executing a strategy on each level, Ant Raid challenges players' quick wits and ability to react to hectic, constantly changing situations. 2) RTS haters may want to give Ant Raid a chance. If the genre hasn't appealed to you because you feel there is always too much strategy and not enough real-time action, Ant Raid might just be the first RTS-type-of game you can truly enjoy! In Ant Raid, you constantly divide your ant troopers between different errands such as collecting stuff, reviving fallen comrades, and of course: attacking and defending the hive against swarms of mutated zombie slugs, vampire bees and other utterly silly creatures. As you progress with the campaign, new features are unlocked at a steady pace, such as collectable power-ups to momentarily boost your ants in the midst of action. The gameplay is fast-paced and WILL keep your fingers and mind busy for sure! To put a long story short and answer your question: no, gameplay-wise Ant Raid isn't too close to Starcraft, even though we all love that game. Ant Raid is an "RTSish" arcade game with a hint of 'dash' and.. uh.. other things. It's a weird mixture really, and hard to explain in words Hopefully our upcoming gameplay trailer can give you a better answer than this vague twaddle Joecarr: Your green grin made us happy.. A counter grin!
Really good to hear that, Scarface81! Thank you! Thanks for your question, LordGek! In Story mode the randomization is limited to spawning locations of enemies and pick-ups, so yes: they DO play out differently, but just a teeny tiny bit. We didn't want to make the story levels too random, because we wanted to allow players finetune their best methods in getting those 3 star rankings for each of the 100 story levels. As a sidenote: in Ant Raid it really DOES pay off to get those 3 stars, because they will benefit you in Survival mode! And don't worry: what is required to get those 3 stars is made crystal clear on each level, and you constantly know whether or not you're about to get them, and why. In Survival mode the randomness is more prominent, and plays a key role in that mode. There's no way to fully master any of the 4 survival battles, since each session is different -- but players can try and look for ways to handle different scenarios in the most efficient way, as these scenarios (or "patterns of enemies and/or pick-ups") are controlled by the game to some degree. For example: the difficulty curve is controlled to ensure an easy start, and to make sure that after a short while you WILL be on the edge of your seat. Since Survival mode scores are connected to Game Center Leaderboards, we are currently spending a lot of effort in making sure the mode feels good whenever played, but always leaves the player room for improvement.
Nice, this does sound like my kind of game, then. So what is the connection between Story and Survival? Do 3 stars in some Story levels unlock extra stuff in Survival?
Nice to hear you're interested! We don't want to reveal too much just yet, but for now it can be said that the more stars you have in story mode, the better are your survival chances in survival mode -- and in that sense, the better are your chances of scoring high. This design decision was not done because we wanted to bully the players who don't get those stars (they ARE gettable if you just show a little bit of effort.) This system was done because we wanted to reward the players who see the effort. We thought that for such an achievement, players should get more than just a small icon in their long list of achievements.
As you've seen in one of the screenshots, Ant Raid features comic style sequences. Since a picture can tell more than a 1000 words, but a VIDEO can tell more than a 1000 pictures, here's one of the cutscene clips of Ant Raid. Enjoy!
We're doing our best to get the game ready by the end of May, or beginning of June by latest. Thank you, great to hear that!
