I have a quick question: What kind of game has a mostly above (not completely) angled camera? PS: it's also 3D
In 2d, that would be called an "isometric" projection, although it would be using the term incorrectly. In 3d, some people would still use isometric (incorrectly again) or say that it's a "top-down" camera. Typically used for Action RPGs or strategy games, but there's no real genre attached to the camera angle.
It's also used for regular RPGs, not just action, or at least, I don't think I'd call games like Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment action RPGs, sure they have action, but there's also quite a bit of dialog. Just my opinion though
It has been making a comeback for regular RPGs as well, heck, just recently we got Shadowrun Returns which uses that very same perspective, we're also getting Shadowrun Online, Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity, all of which are regular RPGs and will use this perspective. I don't think there's a "standard" view point for RPGs, I know that for western RPGs, for the longest time, Fist Person was the go-to perspective with games like Wizardry, Might and Magic, Deus Ex, etc.
