Being in the marketing department of a games publisher like Connect2Media is a lot of hard work. I know that builders, nurses, firemen and the like say they work hard and have responsibility but they don't know the half of it! Take this morning, I am presented with a raft of icons and asked to choose one for our new app - a beautiful arcade/casual game with an arachnid hero - and that is before my first G&T! So can I please ask you what you think? I know I am not giving much away about the game but it is fun, aimed at a wide audience, and easy to pick up and play. I have five icons for you to look at and would appreciate any comments or feedback you have. If I can scrounge some codes from PR I'll give out 5 or six for Go! Go! Rescue Squad! or Tumblebugs at random to people who resond in the next five days. Thanks again, Stephen The options are: Icon 1 - Leaping Spider Icon 2 - Smiling Spider Icon 3 - Black Spider Icon 4 - Scribble Spider Icon 5 - Black Web
was going to say 4 but it needs the web so people know/recognize 100% it's a spider: last one, black web!
could you do a grey spiderweb on white background for nr 4, instead of the grey lines you currently have?
Between #4 and the last one for me. #4 has a good look, but I like the web on the last one, and he is funny. Voted #5. Perhaps a "scribble" one like #4, but with a web? My peso...
I went with #5 because it is fun and friendly looking; although, I don't like the shine. If the game is using doodle style art then you should definitely go with the big doodle art icon. I really like #1...it is definitely very cute...but it is not immediately clear that is is a spider with legs tucked in and you just have the strand of silk below it to let you know. If #1 had its legs out or you could see it leaping from a web in the background, I would have went for that one.
if i have to pick from how they are now i'd say #5. but i feel that #4 would be the best icon if it had a grey spiderweb background (as said before). 1)doesnt look like a spider, 2)won't look good shrunk down to app icon size, 3)has no detail, won't look good shrunk down, 4)very defined, looks good shrunk, just missing a light-grey spiderweb, 5)bad color choice for spiderweb, doesn't match spider.
