Mike Meade (qpawn) and Mike Gaughen (mikeg123) met in the TouchArcade [post=760099]thread[/post] for Rocketcat Games' awesome iOS title 'Hook Champ'. The two became bitter rivals, battling it out for global domination!

After beta testing Rocketcat Games' next two adventures, the handsome warriors discussed the possiblitity of creating their own game. At the start of 2011, BeaverTap Games was born. With their upcoming debut title 'Mikey Shorts', the gentlemen hope to show the fun and exciting world of speedrunning to a casual crowd, while still including enough challenge for talented gamers to enjoy.

We're happy to answer any questions!

Does indeed look great. I'm glad to see there's still a good amount of interest for platformers as it's one of my fav genres.

There's a platformer concept I want to work on myself, but I sometimes wonder about saturation in the store. I like to think that if a game is bringing something new (as seen here) in how it plays, there's always a place for it.

Anyway it's a definite buy from me for the fact alone that its development has a cool story behind it.

SWEET! Day one buy for me. qpawn is a legend in the rocketcat community. And I've been dying for another good speedrun game, so this looks right up my alley. :)

Great story and initial video of the game looks fantastic.

Are you guys developing natively in Objective C or using a game centric development suite like Corona?

Glad to see all of the excitement so far! We've been having a lot of fun making the game, and are looking forward to getting Mikey Shorts out the door!

We are developing in Objective-C. And using Cocos2D as our framework.

Had the privilege to beta test this game. It's absolutely fantastic. I spent over 12 hours on this game (there's a stat page): a freaking beta!

Looking forward to some real competition on those leaderboards!

Best game I've seen and played in a while

I was chosen as a beta tester for this game and didn't see or hear much about it. But once I downloaded it, I was hooked! I have logged over 25 hours on it already and I love every minute of it! I try to improve my times on the story levels and play solid and quick on the challenge levels. Honestly, there are so many awesome features and I don't want to spoil it for you! I am more addicted to this game then I was "Angry Birds!" I can't wait to compete with you forum members for the top scores so I can be pushed to a whole new level! This game should blow up domestically and internationally. Once you download this, you WILL be hooked!

Likewise. The game is super-polished and straight-up fun to play. Verdict: mikeg123 and qpawn are as skilled at making games as they are at speedrunning them.
