It's insane. Those pirates are becoming a major annoyance on iOS. Just a small group a while ago, now a big heap of criminals. That's the case with 90% of hidden gem failures on the App Store. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #4 nightc1, Jun 27, 2013 Why are pirates to blame? If anything is to blame IMO it's the competition. XCOM ate the lunch of a lot of devs and this game didn't show on the boards until after the wednesday night & thursday rush of new games. It doesn't help either that this specific game is quite a lot like several others I've played on iOS. But devs get antsy if they don't do well the first week or so and honestly I don't blame them for wanting to do a quick free promotion to get some reviews in and hopefully cash in on all their work. mrbiggles Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2012 3,691 0 0 Like retired USA #5 mrbiggles, Jun 27, 2013 a pirates game? cool i heard its a game about Pirates check the trailer Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Morgan01 Well-Known Member Apr 11, 2013 243 0 0 USA #6 Morgan01, Jun 28, 2013 Last edited: Jun 28, 2013 If pirating is such an issue, shouldn't they changes things with iTunes and the App Store? awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #7 awp69, Jun 28, 2013 Not a single review on the App Store. We're in this for the long run anyway The reason we went free on Android however was down to piracy, as expected. We did see a huge spike in players and reviews and right now we need the exposure to support us making more great games in the future! I never even heard of this game until I saw this ->free post, and I'm paying magnitudes more attention to the app store than just about anyone not consistently following a site like TA, and it still completely slipped through the cracks of even getting seen. With hundreds of apps coming out every week, I feel for devs who have no press buzz or previous established player base. ----- @RatJarGames: thanks for the freebie; haven't tried it yet so can't say anything about the game other than the art style looks cool, but you at least now have my attention. Pennsylvania, U.S. #20 SumoSplash, Jun 29, 2013 I couldn't agree more about having your game out there for free to get the greatest amount of exposure. It's how you are compensated--and the nature of your IAP structure, more specifically--that generally becomes the problem. I took a 'number two' earlier today. When I got up from the toilet, I named him 'Consumable IAP' and then flushed. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
