    Hey guys,

We're looking for a few beta testers from TA to help us test our game, Star Breed Episode 1. Star Breed is a Sci-Fi Action Gamebook, spiced up with real-time battle mini games. You can find more details about the game, including a trailer, on this thread.

If you're interested, please PM me. Be sure to include:
    1. What device you're on
    2. Your previous beta testing experience, if any
    3. Have you played gamebooks before? Which ones did you like? (Having played gamebooks before is not mandatory - we would just like to know if you have)

    Doing nothing of importance.

Could you explain how the combat system works? I couldn't tell very much from the video.

The combat system is a completely re-imagined take on traditional gamebook combat. With dice, gamebooks typically use your stats and some luck to determine the battle's outcome. What we're doing in Star Breed is replacing the luck with actual player skill. So instead of rolling dice, you'll be playing a "mini game" to get through the battle. If you win the mini game, you win the battle

The mini games themselves are deceptively simple, but quite intense. What you saw in the video is a "match the symbol" type of mini-game. The symbols zooming by are on a timer, while the buttons below are used to match them correctly, before the time runs out. This makes the battles fast-paced and more reflective of the situation in the story.

Awesome concept. It's a nice change in pace from the typical dice-rolling found in every other gamebook out there. About how long are you going to be testing for?

We're starting the beta test on August 27th and we expect to run it for about 2 weeks. (Though, we've been terrible with guesstimating our timelines so far :))

We actually concluded our first internal beta last week. What we're picking up on TA is our second round of testers, so we do think it'll go faster, as the major issues have been ironed out.

Thanks to everyone who applied. We have received our target number of applications, so we're closing the beta call and proceeding. If we need any additional help in the future, I'll post back here.

BTW, I've PM'd everyone who applied. If by any chance, someone who applied didn't get a PM from me, please let me know.
