    Ladies and gentlemen,

we would like to announce Dream of Pixels, our upcoming falling blocks puzzle game, in reverse!

The brilliant twist on the old classic is the unpacking of tetromino blocks in place of the usual packing. Simply tap on the descending grid to unpack the tetrominos and watch them spin, rotate and drop with gravity. Clear the lines from the beautiful cloudy grid fast enough or it's - dream over.

    Features:

    • Beautiful ever-changing visuals!
    • A brilliant twist on an old falling blocks classic!
    • 5 game modes: Classic, Puzzle, Pro, Nightmare and Shattered Dreams!
    • Zen Puzzle mode to slow down, relax, and think about it!
    • Amazing music, matching the visual experience perfectly! Amazing music, matching the visual experience perfectly!

EDIT: NEW Lock Screens for your iPhone 5, iPhone and iPod Touch retina, non-retina, iPad and iPad 3 retina - the whole Apple device spectrum!

We are almost done and are polishing up the last final details.

The release date is set: November 15th 2012

This looks gorgeous. Is there a puzzle mode with levels? Or are the modes endless with tetris-like gameplay?

    Puzzle mode

    Thanks!

    There are 3 endless modes,
a puzzle mode (you can see some of the levels in the trailer after the "loads of challenging puzzles" title) and
a speedrun mode called Nightmare (end-the-"nightmare"-as-soon-as-you-can).

All of the modes have the same basic mechanic of unstacking tetromino blocks from the grid, except in Puzzle mode the grid doesn't descend, so no time pressure.

Here's some samples of how the puzzles look like - animated screenshots you can also make (and share!) from within the game:

    Select Dream of Pixel previews

Last week was pretty amazing for Dream of Pixels so we thought we should share the re-cap:

After announcing the release date (Nov 15) with the latest gameplay trailer (above) this followed on Friday:

slideDB.com, a sister site to modDB.com and indieDB.com launched with Dream of Pixels on the frontpage as we added it to indieDB just a day before.

Dream of Pixels rised in popularity on the indieDB.com to #2, just after Minecraft (being second only to Minecraft - can you believe that?)

KOTAKU picked it up and praised the trailer! Whoa!

KOTAKU / Tetris in Reverse Looks and Sounds Positively Dreamy

Our trailer got hit by 5.000 views in one day.

    awesome

    Thanks! Much appreciated!

No, not yet! Hope you'll be able to wait for an update! :)

Progress achievements are synced across devices, though.

And for modes and puzzles unlocks we have some options to keep the players happy when switching devices, but it's a "secret" setting. ;)

In the cosy ambient of Leemajik's studio, we made some pro sounds for Dream of Pixels. You'll also hear him in the soundtrack, so go put this in the background and break that beat: http://soundcloud.com/leemajik

    Dream of Pixels Tutorial

So we got some requests to show off more of the gameplay, and we recorded the tutorial - plain and straight from the game, and, though unlisted on youtube, we are making an exception for you all:

Would love to know what you guys think about it!

    Cheers!

That cloud looks like a cow! Or is it a cow that looks like a cloud? :). I love games that take classic gameplay and burnish it with a truly unique art style. Gotta put this on my watch list.

The music MUST be good. Eveyone knows that when you combine a synth with a guy wearing racing stripes, magic happens!

    The Tutorial looks good.
What day do you to expect this will hit the New Zealand app store?
I'm flying out to Vietnam on the Nov 13th and need some games for the long ass flight.

Well, it'll hit the stores on the 15th and even if you cross the date line, it'll still be at least the 14th in New Zealand in your pre-crossing time.

    BUT

As soon as it's approved (it's already in Waiting For Review (since Friday)) I'll PM you a promo code and hopefully make it a short ass flight for you! :)

    Cheers!

And Twinoo the brain training game! FREE on launch of Dream of Pixels!

Twinoo is going FREE for the launch, too, and will include this wonderful popup: :D

We promise it won't annoy you (too) much. :)

Would love to hear about some examples of non-annoying popups. :) Do they exist?

    User comments!

Quite proud of some of the user comments on the Kongregate PROTOTYPE:

Had no idea how to play for about 10 seconds, then fell in love with it. This is a real gem!
    -- sordid1975, level 10

"Hot damn, when I first saw this I was like "Well it's a prototype, I'll check it out and move on" Looked at the clock, played for about 15 minutes straight, got to level 7, 17,000 points, and was pretty surprised at how simple and fun it is. I'm a tetris fanatic, and I always like seeing new takes on the old classic. I think with improved visuals and improved move recognition algorithms, this could be very well polished and ready for sale on mobile markets, great job here! Love the concept, and I think with a finalized execution, this game would succeed - it's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?!" type games (as I'm a programmer and mobile developer myself)."
    -- Jaundice, level 43

And I should add that we have polished the visuals and we have improved the move recognition algorithms, and the release of Dream of Pixels on the App Store is imminent - less then a week!

You can check the improved visuals for yourself:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

but you will have to check the move recognition improvements yourself. :)
